HDR or Higher Refresh Rate
Hello, I wanted to to ask ya'll, if you had to choose between HDR and a higher refresh rate which would you choose and why? Doesn't matter is you play FPS or RPGs, you have to choose one for all your games.

Well HDR offers a better brightness and color, Higher Refresh Rate, you will basically receive higher performance options with the monitor you have bought leading to ranges like 60 80 100 120 240 and 360hz. Personally this is a user preference, it basically depends on the user but both options should be available in the newer monitors.

High fps and it's not even close.
You can have both. I would prefer a 144/165hz with hdr over 240hz+ without.
Question is which hdr you can afford. Hdr on ips is in general not this good but better then nothing. Dont know how good hdr 1000+ looks since i have only hdr 600 @180hz but i love it.
Better refresh rate no question. A better frame rate makes for a much better experience than HDR. No one is gonna choose 30/fps with HDR over 60 without. If they do then ask them what planet they are from.
im guessing this is just a hypothetical question as HDR has no impact on refresh
rate.as much as i like my HDR (i use it as a shader not the typical oversaturated colors)
gotta go with refresh rate how everyone that is going back to 60 and below to run 4k
completely baffles me.

higher refresh all day long.
HDR. I can not see or feel any difference at all between 60Hz and 120 or 144Hz.

Maybe because you are used to play on 60hz/fps, right then you cant tell the difference. Once you play a few day/weeks on 144fps/hz and then try to play on 60 again it will look like stutter. This doesnt mean you never cant play on 60 again. After some time it will look "normal" again.
High refresh. Anyone who can’t see the difference between 60hz, 120hz, 144hz….. seriously I would advice for you to get your eyes checked out.

I will try that. I have desktop and game set to 120. In a month I will go back to 60. Then I can try 144 if my card can do that.

Between 120 and 144 its hard to tell but from 60 to 120 its huge. If you have gsync you need constant 120fps your hz will be lower aswell.

You could play a game which profits from more hz/fps like first person shooter for an hour and then reduce your hz. You should see results immediately.

Naw. I did try that when I got the new monitor. I never did so far. I will see if the long term test is any different.

How old are you? What’s the condition of your eyes? I can easily see a difference between 120 and 144 and even 144 and 165. A lot of people also say they can see 240 and 360, but I can’t comment there as I’ve never tested them out yet.
Great to read your responses. I'm using 120hz and it does feel really smooth but I can't use HDR as well as My GPU only has HDMI 2.0b not 2.1 but I'll upgrade in the future, so curious what others think.
Get a GPU with DisplayPort and use both.
