The common wireless microphones and headsets all use Bluetooth with maybe a proprietary codec.
And that's the big issue, Bluetooth is easy to use, but has limited bandwidth which does cause a bottleneck regarding the data that can be transmitted. Also, like other wireless protocols it is only half-duplex and not full-duplex like you can find with cable based protocols, which only adds further complications.
Ever noticed how the quality streamers use (stationary) microphones with cables? Ever wondered if there may be a reason behind that?
As far as gaming headsets go, there's few cans out there that are better than SteelSeries' Arctis Pros. Comes with their GameDAC (with controls everything), has very crisp and clear audio (especially noticeable with voice chatting), and if you want you can use SteelSeries' GG software to control the RGB lighting and sound profiles from your PC. I've used them for over a year now and they're still in just as good in shape as they were when I bought them brand new.
It has a 2.4G and 4.1 Bluetooth connection, lossless and ultra-low latency.
High Fidelity 10 - 40,000 Hz Frequency Response.
Large Neodymium Drivers: 40mm
Battery Life: Unlimited 20 hours (10 per battery, can charge one while using the other)
Bidirectional noise-canceling retractable 100 - 10,000 Hz Microphone.
Lightweight design and comfortable to wear.
Only other one I liked was the "Beyerdynamic MMX 300 Gen 2 Headset", but that would be wired. "Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless" would be the wireless version, but have never tried it and not designed for gamers as such. Otherwise consider a separate microphone and headphones, rather than a headset?
What does it need a battery for? The only one I found was wired.

Thanks.
Edit: I found the wireless one, I think.

Are they both the same quality?
That last link "SteelSeries Arctis Pro" is the wireless one and comes with a DAC that upscales audio and that has a battery charger builtin. It's the best wireless headset I've personally tested which has zero lag and the audio quality matches that of the wired. Other wireless headsets I've tested are much worst and tend to lag behind a bit.
It has better quality audio than that other one you linked, unless you get that wired ARCTIS PRO with GAMEDAC Hi-Res gaming audio system or have your own high-end motherboard audio, sound card or audio DAC to use with it. You can optional purchase the GAMEDAC separately or bundled for the wired version, but not wireless (it has it's own more advanced version bundled together with a display, controller, wireless 2.4G and bluetooth, etc - required for the battery charger as well and will need it's own power plug too). That's why there's a price jump between them.
I love mine I won't go back to wired. The positives far outweigh the negatives. I'm sure I could get slightly better sound quality from a set of high end Sennheisers or something but for a gaming headset package it's hard to go past the Arctis Pro Wireless. The sound quality is excellent. I also have a wired Logitech Pro X headset and the quality from the Arctis is I'd say better.
The hot swappable battery is a huge plus for me. I never have to plug the headset in. It takes 2 seconds to swap batteries. Then the other one charges while you are playing. You never have a dead headset.
