The ("New") RTX 2060 12GB version
Why Nvidia is launching a GPU which is just the updated version of RTX 2060 Super with smaller memory width???

This GPU have a performance close to RTX 3060, but we cant even have RTX 2060 (6GB) or 3060 for a normal price , so what is the point of launching it? Why they cant just launch something like RTX 3050 with 4GB VRAM??

Well, here is one article that tries to explain this. Others may have different opinions.

Kind of disappointing, imo. NV apparently isn't doing gamers a big favor with this one after all.

For your first question, nVidia can't help with supply and demand issues regardless of what they launch as the issues aren't directly something they can control. It's the same reason there's no reason to NOT release a succeeding generation due to supply issues, as some people have asked this too. It's simply an unrelated issue, an issue nonetheless, but an unrelated one out of nVidia's control.

For your second question, a large part of what is setting the floor for the current demand (Etherium's profitability) means "market saturation" is like... well, not a thing, which in turn means they can devote more of the production to higher end GPUs (which typically have a larger profit margin) as they sell out regardless. Why would they skip on that potential profit to make entry level or good value mid-range products? They are a company, and as such, care about profits, not offering good values or low priced products to gamers (this applies to AMD as well and not just nVidia, for clarification). Okay, those things aren't always mutually exclusive, but when one has to give, it's not going to be the profits part.

What is funny is that Nvidia is also releasing versions of the 3080 and the 3070Ti with more Vram. But they are giving the 3080 12GB and the 3070Ti 16GB. What?! Wouldn't the 3080 benefit more from the 16GB of Vram? This to me is like the 3060, and the new 2060, having 12GB when the 3060Ti, 3070/3070Ti, and 3080 have less. I don't know what Nvidia is doing with Vram, but they are all over the place. Amount of Vram actually has very little to do with the actual performance of the GPU anyway. I mean more obviously helps, but if the card isn't designed to peform at a certain level or actually make use of all that Vram, it isn't going to matter.

The 3070ti definitely needs more Vram. 16, not so much but 12 is good. I'm not going to complain about 16 though.
Maybe since scalpers aren't interested in 2xxx series, that will actually leave them available for people who want to upgrade to ANYTHING that's decent and available?

Just a guess. I don't pay attention to the hardware market news.
Well, what I have been reading is that the new 2060 is actually a mining beast. More so than the 3060. So, for those hoping the 2060 was going to be a gamer's savior and miners wouldn't be interested, think again. It actually looks like this card was released to cater to miners, and not gamers. I think Nvidia has come to the conclusion that they don't really care where their money comes from. Whether that be from gamers, or miners and scalpers. It is a shame.

@ZeekAnciet
I think they care, because miners love GPUs with a lot of VRAM y know

If l m not wrong, Linus Sebastian made a video for a GPU which is more for mining than anything else. If Nvidia release this "mining" GPU publicly, then RTX 3090 will be useless to be bought for mining coz, efficiency. So that is how you can take most of the money from gamers and miners.
I know, I watched that video, lol. There are no display ports on it and you cannot really game with it. But they tried so hard to, lmao. But you couldn't really install game ready drivers on it. They even took it apart and the were bashing how cheaply made it was. But you are right, they don't even advertise it or list it on their website anywhere. But also that card is super expensive I guess. In comparison, a card like the 2060 is pretty cheap. And considering how good it is at mining, miners will just gobble it all up.
its not all bad its no great GPU but if your sitting on a 3/4GB card and dont want or
have the money to pay the 1000-2000 dollar price tag on the upper crust GPU's
its a godsend.as long as the price is between 300-400 i think its going to be a decent
seller.lets face it this shortage isnt going to end anytime soon.

Ya but the problem is, is that availability will not be able to keep up with demand. Miners and scalpers will scoop it right up I am sure and regular gamers will not be able to get it at a decent price. See that is the issue. A gamer typically just wants to buy a single card. Miners and scalpers will buy as many as they can. I have a friend who is a hardcore miner, and not a gamer. He is so oblivious to the the current situation when it comes to GPU shortage. He doesn't understand that he is doing harm when he scoops up 10 GPUs, when a gamer just needs one. In fact, he was actually a godsend and gave me my 1070Ti for free when I needed a GPU after I had to sell both my 1070s. But when I told him I was using it for gaming, he almost gave me a look like he didn't understand that GPUs were actually designed to play video games. I just laughed but he thought I was going to actually try doing a bit of mining with it. I did try some, a little, but with one 1070Ti, mining 24/7 I was only going to make like 7 dollars a day. Not really worth it. If I had the money to build a rig with 10 or more GPUs I would do it, as he made a ton of cash mining. But his power bill is well over 1000 per month, and with how volatile the price of crypto is, always going up and down, I don't find it worth it right now. It is just going to take one huge crash of its worth and will not be worth anything. But even though it goes up and down like it does, I doubt it will ever get to a point where it isn't worth anything. However, there are naysayers out there that claim there is a crash on the horizon about to happen and crypto will literally be worth nothing. But we shall see.
As I'd stated in another RTX 2060 thread, I'd seen a screenshot of various RTX 2060 12GB going for between ~600EUR to ~700EUR, guru3d has a thread that the first RTX 2060 12GB would be going for 528EUR (which may be an exception rather than the rule).

But whatever, an RTX 2060 is simply not powerful enough to leverage the extra VRAM for gaming, that is, 1440P/Ultra setting. As I'd also stated in the other thread, it'd have made more sense to have a 16GB RTX2060 Super/2070, but this would cut into the sale of the RTX 3060. But at least there will be a 16GB RTX 3070 Ti, a GPU powerful enough to leverage >8GB on the vanilla RTX 3070 Ti 8GB.

everything after the 1080 series feels like a ridiculous gauge to me

what do i know
The 3080 getting 12GB is decent, but really what is another 2GB of Vram going to do? But yet the 3070 Ti is getting 16GB. That makes no sense. The 3080 could have made use of the 16GB more than the 3070Ti. They should both be getting 16GB. Same as the 3060. It has 12GB and the more powerful 3060 Ti, 3070/3070Ti, and 3080 have less. Nvidia is all over the place with their allocation of Vram, lmao.

What do you mean?
i mean the price and shortage of subsequent series feels deliberately nefarious

might be wrong
