Just hope for Intels gpus to help out.
From what i know, they seem to be targeted towards low / midend gamers. (so 3060/6600(xt) or 3070/6700xt) Which is the perfect choice imo.
Although everyone loves to see those high end cards going nuts with ultra settings at 4k. Most people can't afford them anyways
AND Intel produces their own chips, in suppose to nvidia or Amd, which both let their chips be produced by tsmc in Taiwan if i recall correctly.
And yes, even if Nvidia releases their cards in 2023. Intel and Amd both agreed on each other, that the shortage will probably last until 2023.
So many people will skip the 30/6000 cards anyways.
(Even tho more people use a 3070 than my rx580, which just happens to be the most used Amd gpu!!!)
So i think the problem isn't the production, the problem is the demand.
Not only by scalpers or miners, but also by gamers.
Many people are currently working remotely, School is taking place from home. (Only a matter of time until my School also goes back to homeschooling if Covid keeps rising here in Germany)
So a LOT of people want to get a fancy 3070/80 instead of a 3060(ti) because they use their computer much more often. As said, more 3070's than any other amd card, and the 580 got released in 2017!
At least i still have an ok card. It isn't amazing, have to lower my settings in Battlefield V to get 60fps on 1440p. (And acording to benchamarks the 580 struggles with medium / high settings 1080P in BF 2042)
And i mainly play older games, some of which are about as old as myself (Half life 2, team fortress classic / 2 etc. So I'm still ok.
So as we germans say:
Wait, see and drink tea
For games such as Assassins creed odyssey, final fantasy XV etc. All offline, story based games. I can play with 30fps and prefer good graphics.
BUT
The fps has to be stable. And should never drop.
For such story games, i gladly sacrafice fps for those nice visuals.
Why you think that in one year the situation will improve? What if it doesn't?
Why you think that the act of delaying the release of next series will make anything better? Alternatively, shouldn't the release of next series make current series more accessible (as it'll be less desired)?
Should they slow down their R&D too? Lay off staff? This particularly sounds backwards and dangerous.
Can't they target other markets as well? They are a growing company, they're certainly targeting more than gaming only.
There's clearly a supply problem, but what should they do? They don't have fabs, and they compete on existing ones as everyone else does. But even if they could just flip a switch to produce more, that's a massive risk, because you can end up with lots of stock and nothing to do with it. No one but Apple can afford to do that without consequences, and even that is changing.
On the other hand, the "climate" as you call it, seems to be moving away from the model of abundance of supply in general. While the demand has risen, most companies are reluctant to increase supply (assuming they're able to). I'm not sure what is the driving force behind that, but doing what you propose will reinforce it further.
You're mad at one company in one sector, but have you tried buying a gaming console recently? Buy or rent a car? Order shipment container? Buy a house? Buy better quality meat? Fuel up your car? Hire a contractor to build something?
The situation for the consumer sucks, and I can't see it becoming any better soon.
As for what I said, it was just a meaningless rant. Just venting. I don't expect Nvidia, or any other company for that matter, to halt what they are doing and not produce cards. I for one am excited to see what the new 3090Ti, 2060, and the other 30 series refreshes look like with increased ram. But considering that I just bought a 3070Ti at the end of July and am still waiting for EVGA to email me so I can step it up to a 3080, I am in no rush to see an RTX 40 series to come out and make me feel like what I have is inferior. But that is technology, and thus the computer component game. Eventually something comes out that makes your tech obsolete. And usually sooner rather than later.
But I always tend to upgrade my GPU pretty frequently. While I can make a CPU last me a long time, GPUs I always tend to upgrade every 2 or 3 years. In 2010 I got a GTX 460, in 2011 it was a 570, in 2013 it was a 780, in 2015 I bought a 980Ti. In 2016, the bearings on one of the fans on my 980Ti broke so I RMA'd it and Asus sent me a GTX 1070. So I bought another one and Sli'd it. At the end of 2019, after getting divorced, I had to sell one of my 1070s because I needed the extra cash. Then in 2020, I had to sell my other 1070, and a friend of mine gave me an extra EVGA 1070Ti he had so I could have a GPU to put in my PC. In 2021, it took me from the end of April to the end of July of waiting patiently, searching extensively, and praying that I would find an RTX 3080 at MSRP. At the end of July, I got lucky and saw Antonline had a bundle with a bunch of parts at MSRP, including an RTX 3070Ti. It wasn't a 3080, but at least it wasn't scalped prices, so I pulled the trigger. It is a great card and it is an EVGA so I signed up for the EVGA step up program so I can get my 3080(I play at 4K), but my number hasn't been called yet. Shortly after getting my 3070Ti, I finallly decided to upgrade my i7 4770K. I bought it in 2013, and it was starting to show its age. But that CPU lasted me 8 years. It saw a GTX 780, a GTX 980Ti, a 1070, two 1070s in SLi, a 1070Ti, and a 3070Ti for a short time. I even tried my 460, 570, and even 780 for a time as PhysX cards. But it was time to retire my 4770K. Now I don't think my new 10700K will last me 8 years, as it is more of a hold over till I upgrade my platform again in a couple years. As for my 30 series card, I am sure it will see me through the 40 series, but I will probably upgrade again with the 50 series. Who knows.
Lol, anyways, I don't know what the point of all this was, but it was pretty interesting I guess. A little history of my Nvidia GPUs in the last 10+ years. SInce the Geforce 400 series, I have had a card from every generation except the 600 series and the RTX 20 Series.
LMAO. I just watched a video of him. Something about making Earth 2 in Omniverse to battle climate change. There was also one of him talking about Quantum Computing.

I deleted my little comment about Jensen Huang's and Lisa Su's passionate relationship. I wasn't supposed to give the secret out. I don't want to get banned....or sued!
But just to give illustration to the imagination and a little description of the steamy love scene, it was Jensen and Su, and two GPUs, a 3090 and a 6900XT. Steamy!
But I also had 3DFX cards in the 90s and they were bought out by Nvidia.
I was also one of the early adopters of the dual core(well ahead of its time) Sega Saturn back in 1995. That had one of the Nvidia's first chips, the NV1. Well, the Saturn wasn't necessarily dual core but it had two 32-Bit processors. It was actually really powerful. In some ways more than the original Playstation. But its two CPU structure made it a pain to develop for, thus 3D games ran and looked better on the Playstation. But Saturn's 2D and sprite technology were way better than the Playstation. Even its 3D capabilities were awesome, but I believe the Playstation could deliver more polygons.
And yes, it's another cash-grab for NV in the guise of helping a strapped gamer out. (will prob. retail for over 400 USD). Right.

Thats so much money for such a small step up imo
Unless you sell the 3070ti for 3080msrp
Which is still cheap bdw
