Realtek HD Audio Driver missing on new PC
After buying a new prebuilt from ABS, I installed Windows 10 that it came with. But audio for Speakers says "Realtek R Audio" instead of the usual Realtek High Definition Audio that usually comes with most mobos.

Is there a way for me to get Audio Manager back? Do I need to update Mobo drivers or installed separately Audio Manager from Realtek's site?

from the site of the mobo is the best option
Funny, I was just on Newegg and I saw a picture of the PC you bought.
if it was an oem or custom build, reinstall windows yourself
use the ms creation tool to put the os installer on a usb stick

then you can download all of the mobo drivers and install them yourself

oems often do not do any of that, just depend on ms to grab drivers, not knowing that ms does not know about the newest hardware and required drivers
If you didn't install the drivers yourself, always consider them wrong or missing.
You should be installing every single driver yourself.
I figured that much. I'm just hoping it's a lack of new drivers responsible for the Audio Manager being missing. They gave me a CD with drivers for mobo but they might be outdated now compared to the newest release.
You never use a CD/DVD to install drivers; you must download them
OK, you're running Windows 10, then. You looked in Device Manager already for this info? Under Properties for your audio device, what is the date of the driver you currently have? You can uninstall the current driver, reboot and let Windows install its default. It's OK to do this.

My experience with Realtek itself has been extremely hit or miss. I'm thinking I have the right driver selected, it takes forever to install and then it's the wrong one, etc.

Your best best is as suggested prev. and that's to go directly to the site of your mainboard and get whatever you need there directly. Don't mess with Realtek itself if you can possibly avoid it. And avoid downloading anything from Realtek from third party sites, obviously. There are reasons these things aren't offered to you right off the bat, so reduce your aggravations and make sure whatever you do have is current and up-to-date. That's it.

By the way, I have Microsoft's audio driver for my Creative Labs speakers dated June 2021. It's listed under "High Definition Audio Devivce" in Device Manager. Works great, no problems, but I'm running Windows 11 if it matters.

^ this
the ones on the cd are as old as the board, the site will have newer more updated drivers

never use drivers labeled 'microsoft'
get the correct ones from the mobo mfg site
the correct creative driver will say creative not microsoft

Hmmm, why? I don't like Microsoft particularly but the recent drivers are good. All the ones I got by default in Windows 11 are appropriate and work w/no problems. There is a Realtek audio driver that;s from a week ago--I'm considering it but it's not urgent. No Realtek Audio Manager.

If anyone needs to check for the latest and greatest, the consensus is to go to the mainboard's site. That's the best advice on here.

Edit: Just tried to install that Realtek driver on the ASUS site and after extracting all the stuff, nothing happened after I clicked the setup exe. So my original experience still stands. Your mileage may vary.

You already got your answer on your last thread, go get all your driver's from the websites of each brand of your hardware....

Hmmm, why?
MS drivers are generic
ms does not know all of the hardware capabilities

like putting a truck driver in a race ready rally car

will it make it around the track, sure, will it be as fast as the pro rally drivers, not a chance
The devices might appear to function properly; but when using MS Drivers, or Drivers from Windows Updates, they might be missing software based features.

Again, get the Drivers from either the Chipset maker (Intel, AMD, NVIDIA) or from the Motherboard maker.
I got my Realtek drivers directly from their site. Their site is a pain to navigate to find the right package, but if you're unsure just check out the package on the motherboard site to narrow it down.
use google to get to the brand/model of the board, be sure to pick the board rev# if it has one

if you want help finding drives

post a cpuz validation link
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here

and i will be happy to give links to the drivers from the board mfg
