PC wakes up from sleep mode automatically (need help)
Hello,
when I go to sleep mode my PC wakes up again almost instantly. This is very annoying and I can't seem to fix it.
Of course I tried to disable the "allow wake timers" in the power setting but nothing changed.
I've tried to unplug most of my stuff and ran virus and malware scanners but it didn't help either.
This is really frustrating because my PC is only 2 months old and I had no issues with the sleep mode before.
Could it be a Windows 11 bug that came with an update?
Please help and thanks in advance.

In a command prompt with administrator privileges, you can use the command "powercfg -lastwake" to see what woke the PC last time. The command "powercfg -devicequery wake_armed" will allow you to see what can wake the PC.

If it was working fine before but isn't now, something seems to have changed. A new Windows update, device addition/change (such as moved to another USB port), or driver change could have caused it.

You can use device manager to disable the mouse, keyboard, or other devices from waking the PC.

This might have further information that could help.

Thank you so much for that command prompt! I found out that it was the ethernet controller because my internet runs over an ethernet cable.
Then I remembered that you could turn off those "wake on" events in the properties of the device. I turned them all off and it won't wake up from sleep mode anymore. Thanks for your help. You gave me the perfect idea. Enjoy your award.

That is interest, but good to know from this discussion.
Oh, glad that helped.

Sleep mode can make a good shutdown substitute, maybe not entirely but for a lot of cases, but a lot of default settings of Windows prevent it from being used as such so I guess most people give up on it and presume it just doesn't work well. Sleep usually works, it's usually waking up when you don't know why that confuses people.

Also disable the ability for Mouse to wake the PC via the Power Setting for your Mouse within the device properties within Device Manager.

Ensure to download+install the latest Motherboard Chipset Drivers as well; otherwise Sleep Mode might never function correctly.
