Screen randomly becomes darker for a split second?
Really bizarre issue I cant find anything online on.
Basically whenever Im on the PC, scrolling through the internet or doing anything at all on it, at times my screen will darken for a very brief moment, not go black, but kinda like everything just goes a bit darker, or dimmer then its back to normal again, but this never happens when im playing games or watching videos or anything, it just seems to happen like 1-2 times a day when im actively doing things on the pc, weirdly not games though

specs

i7 10700k
32gb ram ddr4 3600mhz
rtx3080

1440p msi monitor

this is probably the displays backlighting going bad

try using another monitor, or the monitor on a console or other pc/laptop

what monitor model, and age
try using the monitors osd setting and bring down the backlight to 50% and see if it still does it

Make sure monitor cable is secure and check power settings both monitor menu and control panel.

most would say no signal or check input or similar before going black

its like 6 months old at most and it doesnt happen during games so im not sure, its the msi optix 27 inch curved 1440p monitor, its like it only happens in reaction to clicking my mouse and very rarely

the way it darkens, it looks like the contrast goes up a bit for a moment then its back to normal

Agree but op never said it went black, just that it went darker for a brief second at random times. Thinking possibly he just interrupted a power saving cycle. That would also explain why it never happens while gaming.

then its probably a windows setting

check windows power control panel and sleep settings, the current power profile device settings

also the displays osd settings, it may have dimming when displaying static image for more than a few minutes
