Who plays at what Hz?
I've mentioned that my preferred frame rate is as close to 125 as I can get it. I understand that the higher the frame rate, the smoother the image. I also understand that response times and mouse movements are far superior, allowing players to react better to dynamic situations.

Now, for a long time, 60 Hz was the norm. Nowadays, the highest possible are the better. Competitive players aim for 120-144hz. I am one of them, having realized my gaming experiences are better at 125 FPS, or as close as I get get to it. If I can play at 144 with classic games, I aim for it, too.

With that in mind, please enlighten me a little. What kind of gamers play at the following fps...

60
75
85
90
100

Dunno, some people have God Tier Gaming Reactions.

Perhaps, they do notice 500hz.

I play at 1440p 240hz. I came from a 1080p 144hz rig and there is no comparison IMO. People say you can't tell the difference once you get above 144hz but I really don't think they have ever experienced it themselves. 240hz is noticeably crisper and smoother to me.

What GPU are you using to drive that 1440p at 240Hz? Are you actually able to maintain 240 FPS? Well, I suppose you could in older games like CS:GO. And that would make a difference.

I mean, I have said it in the past, if I was a professional gamer, I would be playing on a 1080p 360Hz screen, and I would do everything in my power to make sure I was able to get 360FPS. Any advantage you can get.

Not being a professional gamer though, I consider 60 FPS to be ok. Even in online shooters. I have played Halo Infinite since day one, and I play online at 60 FPS locked on a 4K 60Hz screen, and I still play pretty damn good. High refresh rate high FPS can make a good gamer better, but it will not turn a crappy player good.

I am looking to get a faster display though. Haven't made my decision yet.

RTX3090. I cap my fps at 240 and I'm able to maintain it in most things I play. After playing at 1440p I could never go back to 1080p. There is such a difference.

I play at FrenchFry by Mashed resolution at Potato Hz. :steamhappy:

What is it about 75 Hz that offers you the best experience?

What games? Because i have an rtx3090 and on average i get ~100fps at 1440p.

You would need to have two rtx3090’s and live in an alternate universe where SLI works, to get 240hz at 1440p… or play ancient games like cs go

For instance Anno 1800 , RTX 3090 delivers 68 FPS only on 1440p

usally RTX 3090 delivers 100-160FPS on 1440p but this can vary from 70 to 270 FPS .

As long as a game is 60fps, thats acceptable. I like 120hz and up though. But 60 is still a great experience. My monitor is 1440p 165hz.

30fps is unplayable IMO, its one of the many reasons I don't play on consoles anymore. Sony and MS should have made it mandatory that games were minimum 60fps as a hard rule.

I only asked because I remember Linus playing on a few PCs, his personal and a sponsored AMD one, both from 2ish years ago. He got about 45fps on super ultrawide for the sponsored one.
My monitor is 60Hz but response time GTG is 5ms and there is no flickering or stuttering

But i d agree on 75-144Hz

According to the freedom granted by today's graphics processing, limits to Hertz settings no longer apply. The only thing holding us back from experiencing games at their full potential is the hardware limitation of our monitor's capacity. In idle settings, for example, my 1060 3GB and 16gb ram can produce over 350 FPS on high settings with vsynch off. It's erratic as hell and I sure don't see them, but my GPU still processes them without wrecking my rig. Only thing is my limit is @44hz.

As early as Half-life source, game engines surpassed the monitor Refresh rate. There is no limit to how much games could run at now.

*Sigh*, the day 500hz monitors and more is a dream coming true, but will be an expensive one to be sure.
