Stock cooler that comes with i7-6700 uses simple push-pins so you can just put it in the place and push the pins through the holes, no need to remove motherboard for that.
That depends on the case. Many cases have back panels that allow access to the CPU mounting area of the motherboard and you don't need to remove the motherboard to put in a heat sink that requires a back plate.
He has a non k i7, even a stock one is fine.
If it's some decent case then yeah worth to take the back panel off and see if there is cut-out.
If it's some bundle PC like i5 6402P CPU kinda implies then those rarely have that in the case though.
Also get rid of that stock cooler asap
It's a cancer
My temperature dropped 20 c after using the 103 at peak load times
i have one on an I5 7600 K
so yea your gonna have to pull the motherboard out .. i wish i had bought a better CPU cooler
not that the cooller master one is bad ..but i think noctuna does make a better CPU cooler that is smaller ..only reason i went with the Hyper evo 212 was it was on sale the day i bought my parts and built my PC.
And it was a pain to wire as the hyper evo is pretty large , getting some of my wires plugged in and doing good cable manegement took over an hour.
CPU stays below 70 C even overclocked to 4.4 GHZ
idle themps around 38 to 40 C
