LG 27UN850-W is stuck on 30hz?
So a few weeks ago I bought the LG 27UN850-W and tested it out with my current PC that I'm using (it's a office pc with integrated graphics) and using the hdmi cable that came with the monitor, I had options of 24-30hz.
Yesterday, I finally build my own PC (without a graphics card). As a way to test all of my components, my friend let me have his GT 330, and I bought a display port (Benfei display cable on amazon) so I can connect it with the 4k monitor. However, the monitor is stuck at 30hz. I went to the monitor properties and tried to change it, but the only option was 30hz. Also the monitor was named "Generic PnP Monitor".
I'm unsure what to do now., because I am new to all of this. Is it the graphics card that is restricting the refresh rate, the display cable, or is it the monitor?

Here are my specs for the new build:
ASUS Z490M-Plus
i7-10700F
Nvidia Geforce GT 330
OLOY DDR4 RAM 16 GB (2x8GB) Warhawk 3000 Mhz
Seasonic S12iii-650

Specs for the Office Pc:
i5-9400
UHD 630
16GB RAM

No such thing as GT 330 GPU. Check again.
All Monitors will have that name for most part, that's normal.

That's what windows and Geforce experience is telling me.

then you dont nave the correct drivers installed

get hte correct mobo/chipset drivers from the mofo mfg or oem site
and gpu driver from nvidia

GT3xx was a line of rebadged old parts sold to OEMs 10+ years ago. It is too old to have HDMI 2.0 required for 4k at 60hz.

10th gen laptop with f cpu should have a nvidia mx or better

mx 330 is a thing
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/gaming-laptops/mx-330/

but the laptop would not use a desktop 10700f cpu

the f cpu also would not have the intel uhd igpu

post a cpuz validation link
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here

The name is not unusual. My monitors on my PC are called the same "Generic PNP Monitor".

That's fine because all the data about the monitor is read by Windows directly from the monitor. So the name is irrelevant.

The refresh rates are read from the monitor and will be dictated by the monitor, the graphics card and the cable.

It is most likely that the combination can only support 30Hz, especially if it is a 4K monitor. Since it's not the monitor at fault, and it's not the cable, I can only assume it's the graphics card.

GT/GTX 3xx series was only ever offered in Laptops back around 2010. Desktops never had that gpu series. Just like how Intel 5th gen cpus and HD 5xx series gpus are Laptop only offerings.

The GT 330 was a thing on the desktop. It wasn't a common card as it was only sold to OEMs. It was basically a 8800 GT chip cut down IIRC.

As jason mentioned, the card can't do that resolution at 60 Hz as it's only HDMI 1.4, so you'll need a different GPU to do so.

OP's F CPU is a desktop with no iGPU.

GT330 was available for desktops.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DELL-NVIDIA-GEFORCE-GT330-1-GB-GT215-PCI-EX16-DVI-DISPLAY-PORT/192888650376?hash=item2ce90f3a88:g:J18AAOSwSzpbM5ER

They were bad when they were new.

there are f laptop cpus, they require an ndivia gpu with dedicated vram and outputs

the gt330 is worthless
get a non f cpu and use its igpu, will be way better than the gtx 3xx-7xx series

if that is your card "GT330" im surprised it even runs at 30fps.and if so
get a new card literally anything else.(at least 4GB minimal)

I think jason is probably right on the money. HDMI 2.0 didn't come out until 2013. And the GT330 almost certainly doesn't have DisplayPort.

I'd also say the IGP in the 10700F is probably quite a bit better than the GT330. A decade old OEM card that's a cut down/re-branded version of a card that's even years older is going to be weaker than an IGP at some point. And without DisplayPort or HDMI 2.0 you're going to have some limitations with 4K, as you've experienced.

I would just use your IGP for the time being.

It definitely is, normally. Issue is, the "F" variant CPUs lack an IGP.

Ah, yes I forgot about what made the F models F models and haven't had to deal with that directly.

I'd be gentle with that card if you plan on using it for long. Even at 1080p playing videos there might be frame skipping, etc... The card probably also vents into the case meaning higher all around temperatures depending on the case and ventilation.
