"Driver timeout" error on my recently bought RX 570
Hello guys, I have a big problem with an used RX 570 NITRO+ 4GB I got on eBay.

I already knew something wasn't right when I setted it up, because even if it letted me install the driver I still had to use a patcher to make the card work (this already makes me think it was used for mining or the bios was flashed).

Anyway, with the patcher everything works okay, games run smooth, no major issuses. Except with the sometimes "Driver timeout" and black screen followed by a crash to the Desktop that occures every now and then while playing.
Moreover, today I started Cyberpunk, and it always crashes at the same precise spot, when the character tears the badge off, with the same exact error: "Driver timeout".

I wanted to know if this may be a hardware problem (therefore a faulty GPU) or something fixable, because otherwise I have to make a complaint and return it to the seller.

I need your help to understand what could be the cause of this... I tried to underclock the card, to downgrade the driver to an older one, to perform a clean removal of the driver and install it again, I even risked with flashing a vbios which I thought was the original for the card and luckily I restored it... nothing worked.

Btw if you need any more info let me know, but I can tell you the card is constantly at 30 degrees even while playing and the fans are really loud, so it isn't a heat problem

Post a pic of the card, figuring out what it really is sounds interesting.
This is what a 570 Nitro+ should look like

This is it:

https://ibb.co/6PZ81td

no it definitely doesn't look like that hahah

Any idea of what brand this could be? Or is it just a "brandless" GPU?
Think I found it, this is a 570 but the Nitro+ has a 22% higher boost clock. This model does not boost at all it is locked to 1100mhz.

Definitely open a case against the seller on ebay, you paid for a Nitro+, he agreed to send you a Nitro+, and you got a cheap Chinese off brand.

the card has been worn out and it going to get bricked (die) soon and probably had a bad deal at ebay have you tried to overclock it and see anything weird or at least a proper operating temperature?

You think so? Yeah I guess, because the card seems to don't even have a brand lmao the price was just too good to be true... Yes I tried to overclock it also, same result. I was afraid it was just a driver issue since the card in the end was working okay even in heavy games like Rage 2 and Watch Dogs 2, but today Cyberpunk was a total disaster

doesn't have a brand??! probably is a chinise knockoff have you tried HWinfo to identify it and list the specs? also benchmark it using usersbenchmark and check if it has the expected performance. off course i had a GT 1030 with no brand in my older PC but it turned out to be a working one from nvidia(other from gigabyte msi asus...) probably OEM

Looks like it, there are no brands on the GPU, just the AMD logo on the fans, that's it. There is written also "Made in China" on the card...
I can't look up again because I just took it off and boxed it again, I don't want to mess with it any longer if I have to return it, but if you want I can show you the GPU-Z of the card

the clock speed is defenitly lower compare to a real nitro+ memory clock is lower maybe its actually a real not a knockoff but it seems it was reprogrammed in bios with lower clock speed probably used in mining and sold in ebay after it reported errors during mining

Yep that would explain it, and also the fans at 4000 rpm constantly. Probably modified to be able to mine for days without overheating...
This is really a shame, the seller didn't say anything in the description on how the card was used. So there is nothing I can do? I can just return it? I ask because as you may know it's so hard to find a GPU today at that price so I wanna open up all the possibilities I have available

That's okay, I guess my Cyberpunk playthrough must stop at the character creation part and resume another time...
Yes that's so annoying, I wished I could find an used card around the internet, this time tho ASKING more informations about the card and being more careful with it (preferably finding a NVIDIA), but I don't know how to trust used stuff anymore, so this will take a while...

Thank you for the suggestions! :)

you CANNOT RUN CYBERPUNK FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS unless they release an optimazation or an affordable graphics card

Cyberpunks on Geforce Now. Not sure how well it would run. Would probably use up a ton of internet data. Free version is 1 hour session limit with as many sessions per day as you want.

Anyone else getting the same errors as you in cyberpunk?

Why a 1050 Ti?
Go grab a preowned 1070 or 1080 Ti
Never buy amd gpu for PC gaming
