i picked up the OPTIX G241 (the IPS version) for 250 cad after taxes
tbh so far it's been really good
i had a few people recommend me this monitor saying it was the best for the price.
the AOC one that was linked here originally
apparently had super bad ghosting according to the amazon reviews
and a people on r/monitors told me to avoid it and spend a little extra for a
good monitor
happy with the msi g241
only had it for a day now so we'll see how it goes
but the difference from a dynex 2009 1080p tv to this is
insane, knocked over 100ms of my response time on human benchmark
and is super noticeable in games. the IPS panel looks crazy good and free sync is always nice
i'd have to buy a display port cable to use "G-sync" but honestly freesync seems good enough to me, some reviews were saying dead pixels, mine didn't come with any (thankfully)
and the backlight bleed doesn't seem to be noticeable at all. so thats good
anyways yeah it's good so far, massive upgrade, and that monitor can do 144hz with HDMI
so i didn't need to use displayport
1 ms response time, VA pannel, comes with all cables included (including display port)
and it's really good quality
look at the amazon reviews
also i already bought an IPS OPTIX G241
honestly a great buy
The advertised response time figure is always misleading because what they don't tell you is that it's the response time when the display is a solid color going to another solid color, or grey picture to another grey picture... AKA nothing like average use or gaming which is full of color and actions like moving the mouse or panning a camera in a game.
So while the advertised response time might be 1ms, the response time of VA for gaming is around 8 to 9ms on average, while the average for TN is 5ms and the average for IPS is 6.
Doesn't seem like much, but I have an XG248Q (1080p 24" 240Hz TN) and XG27VQ (1080p 27" 144Hz VA) and the difference is pretty huge despite them having the exact same retail value. The XG27VQ has much more noticeable ghosting, so despite the picture being more colorful, fast paced titles are just ruined.
i went with the MSI one cause a bunch of people told me that it was the best
and without comparing them side by side
im totally happy with the monitor i got
anything would have been a massive upgrade over what i was using
thanks for the insite though i really appreciate it though
i wish i could compare then all in person but for 250 CAD i think i got a good monitor
