Gsync adds so little of input latency that it might as well not have any.
If you are getting 300 FPS on a 144hz or higher monitor, then let it be without gsync. For 50-70 FPS, use gsync.
Seriously, this adaptive sync tech is amazing. Since I started using it years ago, I haven't touched any other form of frame sync. Gsync always on and no frame limiters (unless I'm playing an old title that just has way too many). Gsync is on for anything under 165hz. Done. No worrying about sync settings anymore.
I've used adaptive or fast sync though on many cheaper displays and it has done quite well, but like any feature, it's not good in 100% everything. And many 60hz displays will tear just running a movie or youtube video. With a Gsync Monitor you can stop that not just in games, but everything, everywhere... in Linux, in Windows... movies, games, etc.
-after all the tricks there still is no gsync option in nvidia control panel
-in order for games to work properly i have to turn vsync off.
In another words i cannot use gsync on a gsync laptop.
its kinda bandaided on them
get the latest drivers from teh laptop mfg and nvidia mobile gpu drivers
IF OP has a an nV card, and will continue to buy nV cards, then yeah, spending a little more for a Gsync monitor makes sense. But IF OP is brand agnostic GPU-wise, then a Freesync compatible monitor would be a better buy.
Do you mean G-Sync instead of Freesync? Pretty much all monitors support one of the other.
Which is better? Well, I have both, and these days, it's difficult to tell the difference between them, so I would say Freesync, because it's cheaper.
As long as you can maintain a frame rate of at least 50Hz (ish) then there is no reason to pay extra for G-Sync.
Just because your monitor has adaptive sync doesn't mean to say you have to use it, but there is no harm in having it available.
As long as the Monitor or TV has FreeSync Premium, NVIDIA users can enable GSync. I have a couple from LG and MSI all FreeSync Premium + HDR10 with 165Hz DP using RTX 3080 Ti and they work great.
I agree with this. I have an NVIDIA card and both G-Sync and Freesync monitors. These days you can run anything with anything.....
You should always check just in case, because I remember with my Freesync monitor that it actually worked better with NVIDIA cards than it did with AMD!!!
AMD GPUs can't use a GSync Monitor or DLSS for example.
