Do i need G-sync?
I'm usually playing CSGO, PUBG and rarely Gta games, do i really need G-sync? In CSGO i get around 300 FPS and on GTA V i lock on 60 FPS ( currently using 60hz screen ) i was wondering if i should buy 144hz monitor with G-sync or without?

Well also if u have the money for an actual gsync monitor, you should have money for a decent high end nvidia gpu too.

Free/Gsync only works within a range, Freesync monitors would be more restricted, example, if it's a 144hz monitor, it COULD only have have a range of 75-144hz,

No..... most range is 48-144hz
Please read my post again, and try to understand why I capitalised all of COULD.

Need? No. But I've been using it for a year and I don't think I'd forgo it in the future.

Need is too strong of a word. Want? Maybe. Both Gsync and FreeSync are great forms of adaptive sync. If you want to have variable frame rate, without tearing and it be smooth, with as little input latency as possible, then you want it.

I read a bit about G-Sync. Saying that G-sync or any sync adds input lag. So it's best to not use any sync in competitive fps games? If i got 300FPS why would i lock it at 144 with G-sync? If i have 144Hz monitor but i get less FPS, lets say 50-70FPS with G-Sync on, what will happen? I don't get it.

Gsync adds so little of input latency that it might as well not have any.

If you are getting 300 FPS on a 144hz or higher monitor, then let it be without gsync. For 50-70 FPS, use gsync.

Seriously, this adaptive sync tech is amazing. Since I started using it years ago, I haven't touched any other form of frame sync. Gsync always on and no frame limiters (unless I'm playing an old title that just has way too many). Gsync is on for anything under 165hz. Done. No worrying about sync settings anymore.

Go on YouTube and look at the gsync on vs off comparisons.

I've used adaptive or fast sync though on many cheaper displays and it has done quite well, but like any feature, it's not good in 100% everything. And many 60hz displays will tear just running a movie or youtube video. With a Gsync Monitor you can stop that not just in games, but everything, everywhere... in Linux, in Windows... movies, games, etc.

I have a gsync laptop monitor and rtx3070ti.

-after all the tricks there still is no gsync option in nvidia control panel

-in order for games to work properly i have to turn vsync off.

In another words i cannot use gsync on a gsync laptop.

laptops use the intel igpu for vsync
its kinda bandaided on them
get the latest drivers from teh laptop mfg and nvidia mobile gpu drivers

I have two monitors with Freesync, makes sense since I have two AMD cards - RX 6900 XT and RX 7900 XTX. One is a 75Hz FS monitor that I'd gotten years ago, the other is a 144Hz FS Premium monitor (yes, years ago as well). I've not experienced any screen tearing when play AAA games as well as old titles like UT3 and OG Dead Space 2 (since there's no Remake).

IF OP has a an nV card, and will continue to buy nV cards, then yeah, spending a little more for a Gsync monitor makes sense. But IF OP is brand agnostic GPU-wise, then a Freesync compatible monitor would be a better buy.

Do you mean G-Sync instead of Freesync? Pretty much all monitors support one of the other.

Which is better? Well, I have both, and these days, it's difficult to tell the difference between them, so I would say Freesync, because it's cheaper.

As long as you can maintain a frame rate of at least 50Hz (ish) then there is no reason to pay extra for G-Sync.

Just because your monitor has adaptive sync doesn't mean to say you have to use it, but there is no harm in having it available.

As long as the Monitor or TV has FreeSync Premium, NVIDIA users can enable GSync. I have a couple from LG and MSI all FreeSync Premium + HDR10 with 165Hz DP using RTX 3080 Ti and they work great.

That's not what a necromancer is.

I agree with this. I have an NVIDIA card and both G-Sync and Freesync monitors. These days you can run anything with anything.....

You should always check just in case, because I remember with my Freesync monitor that it actually worked better with NVIDIA cards than it did with AMD!!!
Bad 💀 Motha 22/mar./2024 às 7:47
Well no, usually NVIDIA GPUs can utilize the AMD features; not the other way around.
AMD GPUs can't use a GSync Monitor or DLSS for example.
