Have you tried other ports?
What motherboard is it? Did you install the audio driver from the motherboard manufacturerer's site?
I know that f.e. gigabyte's audio driver will install the audio driver from the Microsoft Store. That will also install some additional features f.e. if you put in an audio device you will get a desktop notification. The "Which device did you put in ?" dialog box appears. As long as you don't select the device and click "ok" on that dialog box, you won't have any audio.
You can also try the SoundMixer option in windows.
I had my headphones plugged into my case. I started messing around with them and I put them in the motherboard. Then I shut down my computer, started it back up, and it works perfectly.
Plug them in before launching games.
You need to decide which audio device you wish to use before you start a game.
is that true, can't you just switch output device in sound settings?
