Is 75-80 deg celsius dangerous for i5-11400f?
my intel core i5-11400f is always idle at 45-50 celsius but whenever i turn on some games (eg. witcher 3) it immediately runs up to even 80 deg celsius
is that too bad? shall i reapply my thermal paste? 50 celsius idle temperature is good i suppose, but under load shouldnt it be lower?
my gpu temps are good btw they do not exceed 65 celsius under load

Try reapplying thermal paste and if you have stock cooler change it to Hyper Evo

It's safe, the maximum temperature for most of Intel's modern processors is 100 degrees Celsius. If you're using the stock cooler, that's why the temperatures are that high under load, it's a basic cooler designed to keep the CPU from overheating.

You don't need to re-apply paste, you'd just be wasting your paste, your temperatures are fine. A little bit toasty, but fine.

Far too hot for that type of CPU. I've got a very basic evo air cooler with some artic silver paste and the i7 11700k is getting about 60c under full load.

I think you're underestimating the 212 EVO, it's leagues better than Intel's garbage stock cooler

The last good standardised cooler Intel had made was during the socket LGA775 days because they had a proper copper core, since then it's just a slim slab of aluminium with a copper plate on the bottom

60C under full load? I highly doubt that. In gaming maybe. Try running the multicore Cinebench test and tell me what you get. It will be higher than 60C under full load.

If you get 60*C on any i7; you're just not using it or even pushing it hard.

Actually fine, not the greatest cooling results and it will reduce probably it life time over longer terms of use. The 11400f can reach 100° maximum like most Intel CPU's.
Definetely would work something out to push that temperatures at least to 60° down during load which seems perfectly possible with the 65 TDP compared to this higher end fireballs in the 11th gen series.

i wanted to add that this pc is very new i actually got it yesterday so does it matter if its a fresh pc?

So you're saying it is a pre-build?
macias Oct 27, 2021 @ 11:34am
its a custom build made for me by my friend and built by a pc shop

not enough thermal paste, cooler too small, cpu fan installed wrong, or fan profile too low

Lack of case fans + airflow is another reason to point out also.

Pretty much this.

If you want to do some combination of bringing the temperature down, changing the looks, and/or lowering the noise, you can consider replacing the stock CPU cooling, but it's not necessary to do for temperature alone if you don't care about the other two things.

to be honest this pc is extremely quiet, when it's idling i legitimately can't hear it working

Fan speed profile could be on a silent profile
