I used to host Marathon Infinity (on the Aleph One Engine) games on occaassion with my old router. If anybody needs instructions here PortForard should have it on a per model basis.

You mean that you can't or didn't forward ports in the router or that the router doesn't have a builtin firewall?
Also, when you run your test in those pages, do you have a service running on your tested port?
I meant that the Linksys doesn't have a firewall page to allow services through, might have been a little unclear since I wrote this late night.
When I run the tests, I don't have anything except the browser and Steam open.
Ok, but in order to check if a port is open you need to have a service waiting for connections on it. e.g. if you created a port forwarding (let's say 6900 --> 5800) you need to have something waiting for connections/datagrams on port 5800.
you will need to forward ports on both
from modem to router and router to pc
try on lan and connect to the router ip to test it
then connect to internet to see if modem and router are forwarding correctly
