Ram Choice&OC Questions....
Hello everyone.

I want to get a new ram pair and i have 2 options;

1-G skill Flare X 3200mhz Cl14 (14 14 14 34 timings)

2-G skill Trident Z 3600mhz cl17 (17 18 18 38 timings)

What i want to know is if i can tweak the 3600 mhz to get the same performance as 3200 cl14 one. For example can i set it to exact freq.(3200) and timings(14 14 14 34)?

If yes will go with the 2. option because it looks much cooler.(and price changes only 5 dollars) Can you please help me with this?

(Btw my mobo will probably support up to 3466mhz max)
(Im currently using a Ryzen 3600x, X470-F strix mobo, 1080ti strix, 16gb 3000mhz(15 17 17 35)) and i use a 1080p 144hz monitor only for gaming....

If your motherboard doesn't support higher than 3466 then your best bet is Flare X.
And 3600 CL17 has slower access speed, so the performance will end up being about the same

3600 is supported by your motherboard, according to ASUS, but there are no QVLs for Zen2 so there is no 100% guarantee that it'll be problem free.

If you are not in rush getting the Ram, Gskill soon will release 3600 CL14 ram it is already on their website at the moment.

Mmmm.... :/
Still didnt decide but i think will go for the flare x 3200 cl14....

It would be really good to know if 3600mhz one can work at 3200 cl14 or OC to speeds the 3200 one can...

Most b-die kits can overclock to 3600 but it takes some work and really doesn't make a difference to most people and especially gamers, maybe 1 FPS at best.

The memory spec for Most Zen2 chips is still only 3200. Don't buy into the marketing scheme of 3600. My benchmark results in 3DMark have ranked high among other 3900X users with 3600 MHz RAM, and I have 2 of Flare X kit you're looking at in my system.

This video is quite impressive actually, specially the 3333 mhz with tightened timings;

Just check the benchmarks. Thats a really good performance boost on most of the games imo.
(Btw i dont know how honest is that test)

It's so minor that it really doesn't make a difference. Tightening and lowering timings of Flare X would do better. People have ran it at CL13.

Look at flare x oc guides, there are different ways to go about it

Allrighty. I definetly will check them out.
I will probably go for something like 3333 mhz with tight timings

Go with the first set, It has better latency timing.
