Changing only steam CLIENT's location from drive to drive
Hi there!
I have found the official guide for how to change location of steam installation etc. But I cant seem to figure out how to change only the steam client's location, without the games. How do I do this?

thanks!

Your cant. To change where Steam client is installed to you have to uninstall it and then re-install it to the new location.
Wrong, just copy your steam.exe to the other location and run that one instead, it's location will now change to this in the registry. Just having a steam.exe is.all a WinOS user needs as that will trigger a fresh install of Steam to the location that the exe is ran from. Be mindful of old steam shortcuts.

Never run the steam.exe from a user folder. Put it in a folder such as c:/Steam or d:/steam

Move everything except steamapps folder.
Create new Steam library on the drive where Steam used to be and then move games from steamapps folder to that new library folder

Not true.
You can move Steam folder anywhere you want and launch Steam without any problems.

I have multiple OSes installed on my PC. I have Steam installed only on one of them. I can launch Steam from any other OS without even installing it there and it works fine.

You can even move only Steam.exe to any other folder and when you launch it, it will download all other files and launch Steam without any problems.

Solved the issue, thanks. I moved everything except the steamapps to the new drive's steam map that was made when I went to settings-->download--> create new steam library.
After that, I deleted everything except the steamapps in the old drive's location.
But I was surprised to also delete the steamuser-map in the old drive? Or should I NOT have deleted that?
