Molex to SATA for case fan headers
I'm in the process of giving my PC a more thorough cleaning, which it doesn't even badly need, but I'm going to give the graphics card new thermal paste, and rearrange some things (move the 2.5" SSD behind the motherboard tray) now that I've removed two hard drives as well as the middle drive bay for my base.

Anyway, as I'm tearing some things down, I realized something. My case, a Fractal Arc Midi[www.fractal-design.com], has fan headers attached to a voltage selector with 5V, 7V, and 12V inputs, and to get power from a PSU, it uses the older molex. Since I'm now dropping two hard drives, this frees up two SATA connectors which are in the vicinity anyway. I know Molex to SATA connectors are a thing, and this would allow me to run on less PSU cable (since the only reason I run the molex cable is for that fan header), but I want to make sure the adapter won't interfere with the case's fan header and its voltage control in any way. It's a splitter with three fan headers and a voltage controller. Pretty sure it won't, but I want to double check in case I'm wrong. If it will I'll just keep running the cable I already am.

yes

sata has 5 connectors, +12v, gnd, +5v, gnd, +3.3v
molex has 4, +12v, gnd, gnd, +5v

the switch may cheat and use +12v and +5v rails to get the +7v which can be harmful to the psu
id throw it away and get a moleex pwm fan splitter, or only keep it at 5v or 12v

works with a pwm fan header on the mobo to control all of the pwm fan speeds, and powered by a sata connector
the red header is the fan that sends back the rpm/sense signal to the mobo

Okay, good to know, and thanks for the answer.

The fan controller actually came as part of/with the case, so I'm not sure how it achieves 7V. I have the two intake and top fans connected to it. Is this actually harmful for a PSU to use 7V? I ask because I actually run it at 7V and have been since I got it in 2014(ish). 12V has it louder than I'd like, and I guess 5V would move even less air.
