When Fan speed is increasing temp also increase even at idle mode

So im using Asus Tuf Gaming laptop fx705dt

When the laptop is in Performanc mode ( even during idle) the temp shoots upto to 90c same with turbo with no game running in background
This is insane

and when i put it in silent mode the fan speed drops, i dont hear a sound and temps drop

Okay now for some data


Temp(CPU) GPU fan speed CPU fan speed
Silent mode 59C 3200rpm 3100rpm

Performance 87C 5800rpm 5700rpm

Turbo 85C 6300rpm 6100rpm


This is happening at idle temperature where no big ,bad graphic intense programs are running
Can anyone explain me what is happening?

I'm giving my laptop to official Asus Service center
plz tell me benchmark tools which can be used to stress test or can i ask them to play games as well?

You should never be using the Turbo while just using the OS and not using demanding apps or games.

It's probably your Web browser, try turning off Hardware Acceleration. In browsers settings.

I close the browser when i play games
also i was just checking Turbo mode ofcourse i dont use it on idle mode
But still i dont understand how come the temperature is high even in idle mode

Dead thermal paste and thermal pads replace them, or the CPU and GPUs are clocking to their highest point on performance mode so generate mode idle heat simple.

Most likely in 'turbo mode' the multiplier is fixed to a high value. The CPU will run, independently from the workload, on a higher frequency/ power consumption.
Check what effect 'turbo mode' exactly has on the components.

You MUST replace Laptop stuff inside over time; it won't last forever, especially on high loads all the time, as the heat will wear these parts out over time:

> Thermal Paste on the CPU & GPU core.
> Thermal Pads on things such as VRAM.
> The actual Cooling Fan(s).

Easy to take apart Laptops and do this all yourself as needed; replacement parts can easily be found places like Ebay. It's also always a good idea to keep a Laptop (when used heavily such as when gaming) in an elevated position, never on a flat surface of ANY kind. Also taking it apart slightly so that all dust can be blown out from inside; keeping Keyboard, any ports as well as any vents or fans clean of dust, as it can build up fast, especially when used for things where the Fan speed is cranking up more, as more air volume through the devices means faster dust build up.

Going by the age of the laptop
It is possible it could use a dusting out and some new paste

Making sure the laptop is elevated and the vents arent covered or blocked is also important.

But even so, the temps are kinda ehhhh..
Keep an eye on running/active processes (doesnt have to be a game) and go from there at the least

When you put the Laptop in Silent Mode, you are also switching it to a Power Saving mode which auto downclocks the CPU & GPU. So of course Temps should drop. It also must be plugged in to get full performance.

It must be in Performance Mode to get the full performance of the CPU + GPU for when doing things like Video Rendering/Editiing, Live-Streaming, Playing Games; or other CPU/GPU demanding apps. When just doing non-demanding stuff put it in Silent Mode.

thnx for insights my heatsink is broken so temp is rising, that is a downside of owning laptops i guess
