What happens if the drive is plugged in but you're not playing games?
What happens if you're playing games and the drive isn't plugged in (unless the game is on that drive)?
What game is is it?
Have you monitored temperatures during the occurrence?
Apply OS power options = high performance.
Edit this power profile and set the HDD timer to 0.

No doing it wrong.
OS drive = the drive the OS is installed to. Why does that need explaining???
Do yourself a favor, anytime you have a prebuild desktop or laptop, make a self made usb flash drive with Win10 media creation tool from MS official Win10 website. When done, reboot and enter the bios or press F11 or F12 and do a one time boot to usb. Once in the Win10 installer, click Custom. When reach the Drives Listing, click and delete each listing do Drive 0. Then click next to clean install your OS.
Any drivers you need afterwards you can download from the system makers site for your exact model of aystem.
But again, if it's a mechanical hdd and not an ssd, you need to take the time every so often so run CHKDSK and Disk Defrag on a hdd
Check Drive Health by using CrystalDiskInfo.
Check Drive data and free space integrity using CMD (Run as Admin) > CHKDSK /F /R
Run Disk Defrag about once every month and do an entire disk defeag.
