How much does mining bitcoin damage your GPU?
I just started mining Bitcoin thru Nicehash miner and it's going kinda good. But there's a catch tho. Everytime I start the program, I think - How much will my miner destroy my GPU? I'm a bit nervous because I dont wanna totally destroy it because I use to play videogames a lot and I need a good graphic for that. So is there anyone who knows how much will it effect the GPU performance?

Thanks!

(btw please dont tell me its not worth it mining btc. That I lose electricity and I'm in disprofit. I know and I know I'm losing money)

Things are meant to be on all day also, the repeated heating and cooling of components will more likely lead to a failure in the long run so being on all the time is no worse.
GPUs are pretty bullet proof these days never had one fail.

You can limit how much power the gpu can use. So it would just be like a normal game session.

You may be better off swapping to mining etherium with nanominer, atleast you have full control over it yourself and nice hash has some shady dealings in its recent past.

I followed this guide https://youtu.be/AP_ZgFQfXDA took me 10 minutes to setup and seems to earn the same approx rate as nice hash does, without some of the sketchiness.

Atleast the numbers match up with my 1080ti's and 3090's.

But to answer your question, as long as temps are under control there's no real issues.

If on a 30 series card (not sure about 20 or amd) you'll want to keep track of the memory Junction temperature with hwinfo64, it can start throttling at 110c so keep it atleast sub 100 ideally (only really an issue on 3090's with the memory on the back of the card getting hot without active cooling).

Good luck.

none

mining will do no damage to anything

fans can wear out over time, takes years
tim does not go bad, but stock tim is often just good enough for stock
better tim will help by <5c

I lost my r9 280x to the previous mining craze I think it killed the VRAM but the gtx1060/70 survived.

There are no guarantees.

You can convert real money into crypto more efficiently by just buying it. Do you think bitcoin transactions are anonymous and you can get away with buying naughty things? If so you are mistaken.

:DDD
I'm really not going to buy some illegal stuff. Just taking care of my GPU

If I were to partake in this and wanted to keep my card(s) alive, I'd get an IR camera to check component temps and if needed, add heatsinks or directed fans to excessive hotspots.

Mining shouldn't damage cards inherently, but the cooling on a gaming purposed card may not be designed to deal with the specific load and duration mining places on a card's components.

use the gpus thermal sensors and software to limit mining to when its cool
for 24/7 mining, get good case fans and keep them at 100%
newer gpus have their heatsink covering the ram and vrm areas on the gpu so its cooler will cool all components that generate heat

playing games on max settings is harder on your gpu than mining
