Is it safe to use humidifier in the same room with my PC?
My desktop PC case has ventilation openings on top with vents taking the air in and blowing it out behind, so I'm wondering if it's a bad idea to put an air humidifier in the same room?

Got plenty of dust accumulating in my apartment and a humidifier would help a lot, but at the same time I don't want to risk harming my hardware.

A Dyson air purifier and vacuuming more often might be better, but as long as it's not right next to the case, blowing droplets right on/into it, a humidifier in the room shouldn't hurt anything.

As long as the humidity level doesn't get too high, it should be fine. Most hardware lists range of acceptable environmental qualities for both storage and operation, including temperature and humidity (and others). I presume you're doing this to counter a very dry environment and not to actually make it really humid, so it should be fine. I'd just keep some distance between the two.

If thats a tower style case consider turning those top fans, commonly they should exhaust from the top and rear, Intake is usually from the front.

I'm confused, what does humidity have to do with dust?

I think OP was concerned that top fans being intake may draw moisture into the machine.

No more likely than a front fan doing so, or a bottom fan doing so, or a side panel fan doing so, or a... you get the idea. Unless, of course, the humidifier is close above the PC or something.

I dont think a humidifier would help with dust, do some regular vacuum cleaning instead. Get a air purifier if you want.

Dry air = dry skin.

You know what dust is made of, right?

But vacuuming is still the most important.

A simple humidifier would not turn the room into a sauna. Just don't place it next to the PC.
As Carlsberg said, your top fans should be facing the other way. Bottom/front for intake, rear/top for exhaust. Work with the natural flow of heat, not against it.

It's a myth that most dust comes from dead skin, although dead skin DOES become SOME dust. Adding a humidifier isn't going drastically cut down on the dust, although it will help if your skin is drying out.

yep but make sure your room (and pc) is warm and not cooling down too fast otherwhise water will accumillate in your computer breaking it

I live in the southern US and let me tell you humidity naturally will cause dust to collect faster on components. If you're in a region that has low humuidity never use a humidifier near a computer.

And Total BS on the dust is not dead skin, 90% of all dust in existence is dead skin at least in the average house. It just doesn't come from nowhere in a sealed house people, its humans that generate it.

I literally called it a myth for a reason, and you're presenting yourself as exhibit A.

For one, dust ISN'T dead skin. The factual definition of dust is that it's particles of matter. That's it. While dead skin is one of the (many, many, MANY) things that comprise it, that does not make them the same thing, so don't even try and say because A makes up B, that B is A.

Your number is also way off, not only for "all dust in existence", but even within a household where the percentage of dust that is from dead skin is higher. The exact percentage is harder to argue for sure, but it's nowhere near 90% in households on average. Not even that much of the dust within a home typically originates from within it (again, hard to argue percentages, but by some measures, it's claimed even up to OVER HALF doesn't even originate from within). Where are these "sealed houses" anyway?

It depends if your humidifier is a "mist" one or a drum the mist will shoot out a mist of hot or cold humidity, the drum ones will just humidify the air that goes trough it

The mist will stay in the air longer as little beads of water ... that I wouldn't trust near my PC but the humid air is more normal unless it's 70-80%
