How much worth is Intel I7 10700 getting over I5-10400
I'm building a new pc and am divided over whether or not should I spend double on an i7 10700 compared to an I5-10400?

I7 10700 has edge over I5-10400 on most of the Gameplay FPS comparison video on youtube, but only by a margin of 10-20% so is really worth paying double for an i7? What would be the benifit if i chose i7 over i5

I would personally get the i5 and the spend the extra on the GPU

Extra cores always come in handy, you get more stable FPS and less drops in case Windows decides to hammer your performance with updates and such.

AMD is always better.

I haven't used the i7 but the i5 is very good.

It's a myth. People usually complain because something else is wrong. Ryzen 1000 series was indeed a clunky launch. It was the last bet for AMD's survival so the flaws had to be forgiven, else there would be no competition. However, it has drastically improved. 3000 series is stable already. Ryzen has been picky with RAM indeed. But who even pairs such CPUs with RAM sticks like ADATA? ADATA isn't reliable as they are known for using recycled faulty leftovers and selling it as new.
I myself had issues with 2700X before, but the problem wasn't CPU, but B350M motherboard which worked fine with 1600. Probably power delivery issue.
AMD is reliable in CPU area.

I'm just going by what I've seen on hardware forums. People with computer problems are using amd cpus.

That's what's called marketing. You want to bring down your rivals you know. Too bad that Intel is kinda of losing it these days against AMD.

Userbenchmark isn't really good to compare CPUs.
If you think about it, i7 is in the end more worth. 8 cores against 6. The CPU will serve for much longer. Less worries about things running in background.
The headroom is there and it can come extremely handy.
