I think you're fine, especially seeing how cpu/gpu prices are continuing to rise. I don't think there is any point in upgrading the CPU if you are not going to upgrade the GPU at the same time which you did not indicate was an option and may be above what you are willing to spend right now (not sure if this is true).

Good point, I appreciate your time.

Still, this CPU is good.
Even if this CPU have only 4 cores, that doesnt mean it is bad. You still can run games with 60FPS Avg, even Cyberpunk. If you have RTX GPU the DLSS option enabled this can bottleneck it in some games.

i7 10700F or K if you still care about overclocking would be a good leap, and considering CPU prices are perfectly normal and sometimes cheaper than usual. At least in the US and UK market. I'd say it's a perfect time to upgrade the CPU. Maybe not so much the GPU unless you were running a GT 710 or something.

Think about the games you play and if you encounter any problems. Its really only worth it if you need it. 7700K is dated but can still play games.

Like others have said, no point upgrading CPU if you are gonna keep the same GPU. That CPU/GPU combo is good. With that said, if you do plan on upgrading GPU, I would probably upgrade CPU as well. I had a 1070 Ti coupled with an i7 4770K and decided to upgrade GPU over the summer. I really wanted an RTX 3080 but ended up getting an RTX 3070 Ti. I was playing at 4K so I didn't think there would be much bottleneck with a 4770K but there was. Most games were fine but CPU instensive games I saw CPU bottleneck and stuttering like never before. And going to 1440p or 1080p I really saw CPU bottleneck.

Now a 7700K is faster than a 4770K but these new 30 series GPUs(and I am assuming 6000 series from AMD) are pretty powerful compared to older generations. I think you really will want a 9th generation and/or newer Intel or equivalent CPU matched with something like a 3070 or more powerful GPU.

I ended up building a new PC around the 3070Ti. I got a 10700K on sale and built from there. The 10700K is a great CPU and really allows the 3070Ti to opoerate at its full potential. Now I game at 4K but even at 1440p(which the GPU is probably best at) I see no CPU bottleneck. But I did notice that at 1080p, the 10700K, still bottlenecks the 3070Ti some. Not much but it is noticeable. But a 3070, or similar, isn't really designed for 1080p gaming. If only gaming at 1080, I would recommend a 3060 or lower card.
