Should be fine, ive used low profile cards in similar sized SFF cases. Why the 8400GS? Its over 13 years old now. Even the cursed GT 710 would perform better and give you 4x the vram.

It's low enough on power demand that it will work with the rated 240W PSU in that system as long as it includes a low profile bracket, but keep in mind the speed and age of the card. It's not really even faster than the Sandy Bridge era onboard your system would typically have, and it's not supported under the latest nVidia drivers either, so you'll have to use older drivers.

Even at $30, that's $30 just to be no better than the IGP already in the system, and to be stuck using outdated drivers.

But that aside, as stated, yes, a low profile GPU will fit in the system stated, and the stock 240W PSU will be adequate for it. Just ensure that it has a low profile bracket; usually they do but sometimes (more commonly in the past) they did not. The card will usually come by default with the full height bracket attached, and you'll need to swap it out.

I honestly wouldn't be so sure. The GeForce 8400 GS is absolutely ancient, and was low end even in its day. It's about 10 generations and a dozen years out of date (more if you factor it's based on architecture that predates its release by another couple of years). It even has DDR2 which is possibly slower than using the system's DDR3 shared memory for the IGP. A dedicated video card isn't always better. I think the difference between that one and the IGP of that Sandy Bridge aren't going to be that far apart, but some software/games may show bigger differences one way or the other.

But, if you already have it/purchased it, yes it will fit and work, so you can try and see for yourself. If it gets better results to the point you're happy with it for the cost, that is what matters.
