Anyway possible to build a portable hard drive myself with local Wifi access and battery for power out and about minimum 5 hours of battery usage? So it does not need any cord to access it?

Mainly using it for a iPad and iPhone.

If it is not possible to build this it is ok. I want it similar to a Western Digital My Passport Wireless Pro but it is ok if it is a little bigger in size. It does not have to use a 2.5 drive a 3.5 drive would be fine too. Also if possible would want 2 TB minimum more if it is worth it.

Sorry just one more thing. Of course I would need a case for it all to go in. Really prefer not to have it all in the open without a really small case.

You don't want to use it via any battery. If it shuts off in the middle of something it could corrupt the entire drive.

I just use an adapter and plug sata ssd directly to my tablet or phone. Not sure you can do that with Apple products though.

Is this for on the go? Like while in a car? If it's in your home, you can build external drive with just a 2.5 ssd or 3.5 hdd + external enclosure that is sata 6 0gbps inside and usb 3.2 outside. Then connect to usb port on home router.

You can do it with the iPad Pro not the normal base iPad like I have :(

You could still do it via a Pi + turn it into a Router and then connect a USB drive to it and share from the Pi. The Pi and also drives are very low power to where you can easily rig it up in a vehicle via its 12V power. I didn't prefer that method though and instead I use a power inverter. It can handle up to approx 300-400 watts and was good enough to run my Gaming laptop off of for years worth of use via this method.
