Question for Fritz!Box router.
I'm trying to change setting that would enable my wifi adapter to have increased 200Mbps from 72Mbps which supposedly does support. But I think in order to make it work, I need to do it that it only goes through 802.11n (for 2.4Ghz) while not having other bands open. sadly don't have that option under device manager.

Now I'm browsing through my router, but I have trouble finding it.

well thank you for that information ^^

if you want actual help you should at least tell us the model of router+wifi dongle
if the wifi adapter does not support 5ghz or higher speeds the router settings wont change it
Not sure why you'd need to disable 5GHz for that.
Make sure your devices actually support such speeds and have the necessary signal strength and signal quality to be able to pull it off.
also 5ghz has shorter range than 2.4

Router model is 5491. Thought they all have more or less same interface. Using a AC650 High Gain Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter. On the cover for the adapter it says that supports 256QAM technology which increases 2.4Ghz rate from 150Mbps to 200Mbps. However best I get is 72Mbps, but I've ben told that it's because I'm using a multi band open option.

5Ghz has issues for me because im pretty far away where 2.4Ghz works better for its longer reach.

most routers you can give a different wifi ssid for 2.5 and 5ghz subnets

if they are the same, the devices can switch to the 2.4 if the 5ghz is weaker

else the 2.4 has nothing to with the 5ghz
to use the 200mb/s the router and adapter both need to support it
