Windows 10 Pro 21H1 makes my main gaming pc Windows Updates get stuck on Checking for Updates screen :(
It never finishes. When I go back to the previous version of Windows 10 Pro it starts to work fine again. Should I hold off on 21H1 ?

My Windows 10 Home VM updated fine. No Problems.

This is what I do. First of all you have to goto your computer start Menu and type services.msc and open services window then stop Windows Update Service.
Once it's done open CMD as a administrator. Then put dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup"" command and press enter.
After completion, Goto your computer C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution location and delete all the folder and files under SoftwareDistribution.
Once it's done again open services windows and start the Windows Update Service.
Sorry for taking so long to get back. It stuck at 10% after putting dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup command in a CMD prompt as admin is this normal ?

Thanks it still stuck even after trying that :(

I did get it to go to 20% then say complete after the command dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup command in a CMD prompt as admin

Though like I said still stuck checking for windows update like in the first screenshot.

But before the below.
Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth -Verbose

Bypass windows update.
Do this if image repair fails. You may have to run it a few times. After repairing the image till there is no component restore corruptions reboot. DISM / Repair-WindowsImage MUST be run as an Administrator / Root level task otherwise it will fail. Sometimes when DISM looks like it's stuck it actually is not. If you go to

Windows >> Logs >> DISM >> dism.log
you can see it working away in there.

after a major windows update, reinstall all drivers
ms does a horrible job at guessing what hardware you have and finding drivers
