Steam crashing when downloading games onto new SSD
I just got a 1TB SSD from Crucial about 5 days ago but when I start to download a large game onto the SSD it works fine for about 6.3gbs but then steam suddenly freezes and closes, when I try to re-open steam my computer says something along the line of "The version of the application is not compatible with your computer's version", when I try to download it onto another one of my drives it works fine.

Sounds to me like you might have a bad SSD. If steam is downloading into your other drive than that is telling you that your new SSD might be bad. Try loading something non-steam into the SSD and see what happens.

Do a simple test.

First, check the drive health using CrystalDiskInfo.

If this checks out, try downloading 1 Steam Game to C Drive, then when its done, verify it in Steam > Library > Game Name > Properties > Local Files > Verify. When done, use the Move option and move the game to the Steam Library you made on the external drive and see if this process works ok.

Check for Steam Update before downloading anything else. Launch Steam via Desktop Shortcut by right clicking it and click on "Run As Admin" (always launch a game client this way, not any other way, don't put game clients in OS Startup and this negates them any Admin rights, which they require to function properly).

Sometimes if something uses alot of CPU and/or RAM, it may appear to "lock up" just wait it out and see if it continues to work properly after whatever it is doing has finished.

List your full specs, along with all Drives and where these are connected.
Are you using Wired Ethernet? Or WiFi? If wifi, is this onboard the Motherboard or was some sort of addon, such as PCIE card or USB Adapter?

I have used CrystalDiskInfo, its 100% I also just tried downloading it to another drive and moving it and it worked but I dont know if it was just because it was so small but I'll say that works. Even so I dont know why downloading directly to the SSD would cause steam to crash and not open, also a new things i've learned is that when it happens most of my E: folder (The one holding my steam and other gaming files) It doesnt allow me to open it untill I also reset my computer. Another thing that normally when I restart my computer (windows button, power, then clicking "restart") it doesnt really restart it, it just starts to but then stops and I havent tried to wait for it to do so but It shouldnt take long. If you still want me to post my specs and other stuff to try comment again please and thank you.
