It's a community of entusiast who build and mod their keyboards. If you start posting pictures of stock generic keyboards yeah they will be mad.
I agree!
I mean look how PC building communities dump on prebuilts by default. Where some users are so against prebuilts as an idea they'll pretend that building your own is the best solution for all users in all use cases no matter what. Zero flexibility.
People get entrenched in their opinions, double down on them, it's not just a preference, it's the only right way to do things, it becomes a religious issue for them, and they'd dump on anyone who doesn't worship at their alter.
i 100% agree with that.
Sure, there are elitists, like all other places, doesn't mean it's a bad place.
In my experience, people in nicher subreddits are usually alright.
And, to put it into perspective; you posting a picture or talking about your generic keyboard is like going 'my Ford fiesta is just as quick as a rally car! Handles like it too!' Or basically any variation of that adapted to your favourite hobby or past time.
You are basically insulting them, without even realising it.
Now, you are right, on a fundamental level, it works, it's usable as a keyboard, but that's not the point of the subreddit.
I can still use my old G105 membrane keyboard just fine, does it mean I should, or want to? No, I'll buy and use what makes me happy; high end mechanical switches that feel great. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
This statement has a lot of validity too.
These types of people are some of the worst.
Even all this COVID non-sense has everyday people hating on others for no reason. It's like the government.trying to make average citizen go crazy and kill each other.
The main reason the chat freaked out is Razer. They're still seen as the bad guy, low quality, and expensive.
They're absolutely fine these days, but they are expensive.
You ca build a decent custom keyboard for the same price.
Most of the features on gaming keyboards are pretty gimmicky, or tacky.
So you can see why some people would get a bit concerned.
Razer keyboards are fine, their switches aren't top notch though, they use a Kailh derivative, and are a bit pingy.
Corsair keyboards use Cherry switches which are bottom barrel, and scratchy as all ♥♥♥♥.
Gaming keyboards kinda suck.
That's not elitism, or bias, that's fact.
All that said, I love my Blackwidow Chroma V2, and I will be happy to use it until it dies. Great keyboard.
This should be a lesson; don't follow peoples opinions blindly, form your own - use clicky switches. :^)
