you can now play games ONLY on lower settings and with 20 fps UNLESS you are rich and can break the bank , meanwhile lets see if these companies manage to put out affordable GPUs once the shortage is over
bad thing: graphics card is missing
i know why this may happen with CPU and NOT GPUs
CPU are speicifly compatible with old motherboards meaning old models even if you want to use them they won't fit and work with newer motherboards and so finding older ones is difficult , required downgraded RAM (ddr3 rather ddr4 and the newer ddr5) lacks NVME ssd supports and won't really work with sata3 modules.we should really mention the hastle to reinstall a fresh installation of windows on new motherboard if you need an upgrade so nobody wants it BUT SOMEHOW newer CPUs are very cheap!!! even with the silicone shortage (i got my new i5 for 150$ (9th gen 3 year old)
HOWEVER games constantly demand better graphics (meaning that CPUs aren't changed as often as GPUs) and so people buy the older graphics cards just to run the new titles at low 30 fps and unlike CPU socket problem Graphics cards use PCI express which will work ALWAYS meaning they are forwards and backwards compatible from 1.0 (2003) all the way to 5.0(2018) meaning that you can even use a 12 year old pcie card on a bright new motherboard (lets say intel socket 1200 with z120 chipset) without any compatibility issues and so people kept buying older generations BUT HOWEVER THE crappy manufactures will stop the production of older graphics card to save money meaning that the stock runs out and so the old GPUs are just expensive as the new ones due to supply and demand BUT every signe old Graphics card from 2013+ HAS BEEN SOLD OUT and due to silicon shortage china trouble coronavirus and TRUMP'S TARRIFS the cost of new graphics card are very high and so WELCOME TO THE LUXURY AGE OF GPU i meant the age where ONLY WEALTHY CAN BUY A GOOD GRAPHICS CARD heres goes the explaination
The thing is: So much time has elapsed between inventories for most ANY recent gpu, that the number of people needing/wanting new gpus is going up and up as time drags on. So, this cycle of new stock--POOF-- Gone-- Rinse and repeat is probably going to drag on way longer than expected. Maybe into years.
Observed a few days ago on Amazon: 3500 USD asking price for an rtx 3090. And on the Amazon EVGA store page: 3100 USD for an rtx 2080 Super. Yeah, you read that right.
This is the cost of convenience; if you can buy it with a single click imagine how easy it is for someone with an agenda and a computer network to turbo scalp.
I remember getting a card for a reasonable price at a local shop during the last cryto-locust raid on GPUs; they severely limited online purchases and it was pretty loose in person, they handled it very well.
Do try to support local shops and/or go in person when you can. My family likes to order things online and I often can find things in equal specs/quality at lesser prices by taking a few extra minutes in the local shops while going for groceries.
