When GPU prices'll start to go down?
I just checked my local store - rtx 3080 recently went from 1300 euros up to 1658 euros. Wtf, does somebody know when all this crypto currency boom will start to go down? So far I'm fine with my hardware for a year or two, but it's really concerning how we'll be able to buy new GPU in the future. Seriously, for an average tax payer it's impossible to buy brand new GPU when prices are this crazy.

lets close this GPUs midrangers are NOW LUXURIES
you can now play games ONLY on lower settings and with 20 fps UNLESS you are rich and can break the bank , meanwhile lets see if these companies manage to put out affordable GPUs once the shortage is over

good thing : i got a descent PC in price with stock
bad thing: graphics card is missing

yep man and thats dissapoints me i could only work with the <<USELESS OFFICE CARD>> and i can't get an old one , i mean REALLY!!! an old i5 from 2014 (i5 2400) costs about 50$ while GPU are expensive ANYWAYS:
i know why this may happen with CPU and NOT GPUs
CPU are speicifly compatible with old motherboards meaning old models even if you want to use them they won't fit and work with newer motherboards and so finding older ones is difficult , required downgraded RAM (ddr3 rather ddr4 and the newer ddr5) lacks NVME ssd supports and won't really work with sata3 modules.we should really mention the hastle to reinstall a fresh installation of windows on new motherboard if you need an upgrade so nobody wants it BUT SOMEHOW newer CPUs are very cheap!!! even with the silicone shortage (i got my new i5 for 150$ (9th gen 3 year old)
HOWEVER games constantly demand better graphics (meaning that CPUs aren't changed as often as GPUs) and so people buy the older graphics cards just to run the new titles at low 30 fps and unlike CPU socket problem Graphics cards use PCI express which will work ALWAYS meaning they are forwards and backwards compatible from 1.0 (2003) all the way to 5.0(2018) meaning that you can even use a 12 year old pcie card on a bright new motherboard (lets say intel socket 1200 with z120 chipset) without any compatibility issues and so people kept buying older generations BUT HOWEVER THE crappy manufactures will stop the production of older graphics card to save money meaning that the stock runs out and so the old GPUs are just expensive as the new ones due to supply and demand BUT every signe old Graphics card from 2013+ HAS BEEN SOLD OUT and due to silicon shortage china trouble coronavirus and TRUMP'S TARRIFS the cost of new graphics card are very high and so WELCOME TO THE LUXURY AGE OF GPU i meant the age where ONLY WEALTHY CAN BUY A GOOD GRAPHICS CARD heres goes the explaination

There are mining farms in China using laptops now.

The thing is: So much time has elapsed between inventories for most ANY recent gpu, that the number of people needing/wanting new gpus is going up and up as time drags on. So, this cycle of new stock--POOF-- Gone-- Rinse and repeat is probably going to drag on way longer than expected. Maybe into years.

Observed a few days ago on Amazon: 3500 USD asking price for an rtx 3090. And on the Amazon EVGA store page: 3100 USD for an rtx 2080 Super. Yeah, you read that right.

damn WE CAN NOW ONLY HOPE FOR OPTIMAZATION AND GRAPHICS DOWNGRADING like the directx12 ultimate which boost performance so HARDWARE SECTOR FAILED

At this point, I wonder if it wouldn't be "morally wrong" for me to list my GTX 970 for $2K on Ebay, except only a photo of it, and then indicate in small font that it's ONLY a picture, if only because some miner or scalper would be stupid enough to buy it. After all, it wouldn't be my fault that they didn't read well and decided to throw money randomly at an old GPU because they're either using scalping bots or throwing money left and right without verifying the accuracy of the sale. It would certainly be a good way to punish some of these scalpers and even the greedy miners who throw money at every GPU that they can get their hands on.

When I'd gotten my RX 6000 series card (a little over two months back), I'd thought I had made a mistake, the price was just crazy. But, looking the present pricing of this card I'd gotten, I actually feel a little better.

It's so unfortunate this is happening during AMD having such good performance on CPUs and while so many people are going into needing GPUs (such as those who stuck with Maxwell or Pascal to wait for worthwhile gains), because this is looking to be a sort of "lost generation".

i have a new system too :( it doesnt' even have a proper graphics card

Yeah, complete systems are a much better deal right now if you can make use of the whole thing, but for the people who ONLY need a GPU, it's unfortunately a high cost to pay either way.

I was planning a new build, now I am putting it all on hold untill the GPU prizes normalizes again around original MSRP. I have not purchased or ordered any other component or even games I was planning playing on the new system. I am patient, very patient......

Just tried to purchase an Xbox One Series X on Walmart's site because it restocked at 2:30 PM. I clicked "Add to Cart" only for the message to pop up saying it's out of stock. Basically, it went out of stock in MILLISECONDS. They REALLY need to make these scalper bots illegal because there's no physically realistic way a human being could add to cart or even checkout before the bots buy up the ENTIRE INVENTORY!

This is the cost of convenience; if you can buy it with a single click imagine how easy it is for someone with an agenda and a computer network to turbo scalp.

I remember getting a card for a reasonable price at a local shop during the last cryto-locust raid on GPUs; they severely limited online purchases and it was pretty loose in person, they handled it very well.

Do try to support local shops and/or go in person when you can. My family likes to order things online and I often can find things in equal specs/quality at lesser prices by taking a few extra minutes in the local shops while going for groceries.
