I recommend Ublock Origin over Adblock Plus. The reason being that Adblock Plus has done shady stuff in the past, it's "Acceptable ads" bullcrap where it whitlisted adds from certain marketing companies such as Google.

To see if an extension is good or not you can check if the Mozilla foundation recommends it or not.

There are multiple extensions which call themselves "Adblock something" or "Something adblocker".

It's a very generic name.

uBlock Origin is as good as your skill with filter lists and setings management will allow. It's pretty good out of the box, but recently, I was adding several non-default lists. Since Chrome/chromium went manifest v.3, I've noticed it's getting a bit harder for uBO to be stallar. Even the developer admitted it works better in Firefox.

I have AdGuard for Windows as I scored a cheap lifetime license. It has many of the elements uBO has and works very well, even on loaded sites like Yahoo and whatnot.

I would stick to the main players: ABP, uBO, AdGuard, etc. Nano Defender, another adblocker, got pulled from the Chrome store as it became malicious after getting sold.
