24 pin connector "clip" doesnt seem to snap into place...
I built a pc this past august, and it's working great so far...
However, while repositioning some wires in it, I noticed that the 24 pin connector has some kind of "clip" protruding from it, as does the socket it goes in. The clip seems to go over the the protrusion on the socket, but not all the way; it's not snapped into place. As such, I can easily remove it after some wiggling and tugging.
I tried pushing it into place, but it doesn't seem to want to go in enough to snap, unlike the gpu power connector, which snapped in very easily. I'd push harder, but I don't want to crack my motherboard in the process...

Am I missing something here?
Also, if that plug falls out while my pc is on, would it short circuit and get fried, or would the psu shut down as an emergency measure instead?

I'll post my exact specs soon...

If it's 20+4 connector, make sure the +4 connector is on the right side of the 20pin one

Also have you checked the pins, they might be bent!

If it was on the wrong side, I thought the pc wouldn't work!
My pc is working, I'm just worried about it being like this long term...
Some of them can just barely snap into place due to being a tight fit, so it's possible some rare particular combinations might not entirely connect. If it doesn't have "play" and come out on its own, it's most likely fine, but if you ever move or re-orient the PC, it'd be something to keep in mind to check (or even just do so regularly).
Try focusing on just the clip. The tip of your finger pushing down on it effectively assisting it to it's proper position. At the same time, use your thump to stabilize the back side of the clip effectively assisting in the same direction as your finger tip. Should be able to get it on that way. Be gentle of course.

The pins for the connector and the motherboard probably aren't lining up properly and thus the connector won't seat fully and click closed into place. The pins on the motherboard side are like an arrow shape, the pins on the psu connector side are blocks. If they are bent in some way to where they have an odd shape, the pins won't line up and go together properly.
