What is module-info.java exactly

I am using eclipse ide for java version 2020-12 and every time i create a new java project i got asked do i want to create module-info.java or not. Last version of eclipse i was using (2020-6) didnt asked me anything about it. Do i need to create it for every java project i make or is this used in certain specific scenarios.

You might also consider posting Java questions on a Java forum, where most of the users probably use Java. It's bound to be a better resource. I'm not sure how many Java developers post here. I'm not a Java developer, I only touch the legacy Java code at work unless the Java guys are dead or dying.
