Sudden purple screen
So, last night I turned off the pc as usual. There was an forced update so I let it happen. Tho while updating, it seems like the pc rebooted a few times(not sure if this is meant to happen). Anyway, it finished and I turned it off.

Today, my brother wanted to use the pc, turned it on... and while idle, the whole screen turned purple/pink and it was shimmering.

It wouldn't let us see anything. It was a solid purple/pink screen so I just had tl reboot. Anyway, now it is working fine now but I'm so worried about what happened. Like, I never had(or even heard of) anything like that before. I tried searching "purple screen pc" but I can't even find anything that fits the exact description of what happened to me.

Anyway, now it's working fine like I said. My brother is even playing a game just fine and I'm checking temps but everything is normal.

One thing I did check before letting my brother play is the update. And it seems like a couple of things related to adobe and some netframe(or network, Idk) failed.

Btw, I have W10 1909 because last time I tried updating to 2004 it messed up the OS and had to restart it(keeping my personal files tho, it wasn't a clean fresh install... But it was months ago and never caused any issue). As for GPU drivers. These are pretty recent tho I'm sure there are newer ones but... can a driver incompatibility cause such a particular issue?

It was the first time something like this ever happened. That's why I'm so worried because I just don't know what happened.

Specs: R5 1500X - RX 560 4GB - 8GB RAM(2666mhz) - HDD - XFX XT 500W 80 plus bronze. Windows 10 1909. GPU drivers are recent. And the only recent change was last night when windows had one of those updates that install when you turn off the pc.

I'm not sure what you meant by space. As in device storage's space or physical space in between the hardware pieces inside the case? I'll answer both: Storage: around 400-500GB. And space in the case: not exactly ideal but it isn't bad neither.

Just to update: my brother played for nearly an hour, he just finished now and nothing wrong happened so far. I'll be checking more tho and see if I encounter any odd behavior.

That's free space? Or total space? Tell us the free storage space please.
A windows reinstall is in order I'm afraid. Sometimes there's no way around it. Start backing up and copying things you want to keep and then get a usb drive of at least 8gb free. Then go to microsoft website and download the media creation tool. Run it and let it create installation media. Then boot into your uefi/bios with the usb inserted and choose it for boot drive. Restart the pc and let the new OS install. Proceed to update everything afterwards, restart and check for updates several times over until windows says you're good.
Then go get your radeon software and drivers for chipset and gpu. Install those and restart. Go into the power settings and choose the balanced one if not already set. Your machine should be fine afterwards. You may visit windows update once more to look at optional updates to see if you want any of those.
After that you can proceed to install steam and games.

specs?

gpu, psu brand/model age?

if you roll back major windows updates, get the correct drivers again from mfg or chipset makers sites
amd/intel/nvidia realtek etc..

That's the free space. It's a 1TB HDD.

As for the rest. Any conclusions on what could happen? I know I have to do something about it to prevent it from happening again and a clean OS installation is the easy way to go but I mean... last night it was working fine. And now this. And I don't even know what even caused this in the first place. And what makes me furious is that it could all be due to a forced, non optional update. So I'm asking myself "how can I be sure it won't happend again?" It sucks so much. I swear I'm annoyed and I feel frustrated, ha!

Sounds like a cable issue. Make sure everything is plugged in all the way.

Typically when a digital display cable like an HDMI cable is loose, it can distort or fill a monitor with purple hues.

Now that you mention it, the side of the cable that plugs into the GPU is a bit loose. I'm messing with it rn to check, if I move it, screen goes black as if I unplugged it.

Still, I'm not sure if that explains the purple screen that I got early this day.

Ps: just to update and in case it means anything: I've been using my PC the whole day and didn't get any issue yet.
