Yes. On slower machines a chkdsk can take hours.
^This + depends on the speed and size of the HDD

My HDD is 900gb but 716gb free space

Does the free space influence on the time It takes to chkdsk?
Btw forgot to ask, does something bad happens if i cancel the chkdsk on the C Drive? Its still stuck at 10% after an hour

Only if you told it to fix stuff. /r or /f.

Atleast it's a small drive. Shouldn't take toooo long. Not like it's a slow 4+TB drive :)

Well ,900gb doesnt look like small, for now 1h and its still stuck at 10%
Unless there are a lot of errors, check disk shouldn't take a long time, I have 8TB drives that will run check disk in a few minutes. If your drives are taking a long time to scan, it could be down to a few things, you have hundreds of thousands of files that are being scanned, you have the bad sector option enabled or the drive has a fault (bad sectors, read/write/seek errors) that are slowing it down, this would show up in the SMART data/status of the drive.
Ok chkdsk has finally finished

But It doesnt say anywhere if there was any errors

I expected a window telling me if there was any errors after booting up

Im just curious if i can see somewhere if there was any errors found during all these 3 h that my pc was doing chkdsk

Does 184gb of used space count as "hundreds of thousands of files"

Does games count as hundreds of thousands of files (i only have installed csgo, l4d2, portal 2 ,tf2, geometry dash, music racer and Payday 2)
Highlight all the folders on there and then right click on them, properties, this will show you how many files/folders are in there. But it sounds like your drive might be defective, that is why it took so long to scan.
Depending on the exact command used, that could be normal, yes.

Pretty sure it took upwards of between 5 to 7 or even 8 (I forget exactly) hours on my 4 TB 5,400 RPM HDD a few months ago to do a full scan and repair attempt operation. Not sure if used and free space matter, but if so, it's just under half full now and may have been slightly less full at the time. The drive is relatively new (ish) and in good health.

On my 1 TB SSD, it took like... 15 minutes? Again, I forget, but it was in minutes and well under an hour.

But yeah, hours of time for HDDs measured in TB isn't unusual.
It being a lengthy process depends on how much actual data is on the drive and also the read/write specs of the drive, namely the read speeds. But all HDDs are slow anyways, so yes CHKDSK will take a good while, especially if you have like 250-500+ GB on it.

If it's a laptop, stop using 5400rpm HDDs and replace it with an SSD.
