Laptop (mobile) gpu in desktop
Got this guy i work with, kinda retarded. he bought a 1650 max q gpu. "This device has no display connectivity, as it is not designed to have monitors connected to it. Rather it is intended for use in laptop/notebooks and will use the output of the host mobile device." read this on some specs site, but it has an hdmi slot on it... Ive never seen anyone buy a laptop gpu in a desktop build so curious to know if this will work? surely theres got to be compatibility issues?

No it can't work, it's not PCIE, it's made to go inside specialized laptops that support internal GPU swaps. Return it, as it's useless to any Desktop user.

So it actually is pcie 3.0 x16... yet its part of the geforce 16 mobile generation.

the laptop gpu is not compatible with desktop pci-e slots

the laptop gpu slot has all of the power pins needed to run the gpu
desktop pci-e slot is limited to 75w for the gpu

Its PCIE BUS, but it's for Laptops only. It can't work in any Desktop Motherboard.
