Looking for a new keyboard
I'm looking to upgrade my old cheap Corsair K55 to a better mechanical keyboard.

The two I have found so far:

Corsair K60 RGB Pro SE (Cherry Viola)
Pros- Much better looking in my opinion, very good wrist rest, slightly cheaper, newer

Corsair K65 LUX RGB (Cherry Red)
Pros- Better switches (apparently), Smaller (no keypad)

I do like the look and the plush wrist rest of the K60 a lot more than the K65, but apparently the K65 has better switches and the Cherry Viola switches on the K60 are not that good. But i am coming from a mushy membrane keyboard so anything would be an upgrade.

What is the better choice?

For gaming and more controls, myself pick Corsair K60 RGB Pro SE.
It's better in my opinion.

Better to have the Numpad; it can be helpful and some games need it.

Depends on what you want, TKL or smaller is perfectly fine.

You can just rebind the keys that would be on bumped.

I can't recommend Corsair keyboards; they have mediocre build quality for their price (rough metal top plate, cherry switches (scratchy), key cap wobble, and they have hard wrist rests.

I have also heard mixed things about their software and firmware.

i have been using a K55 and Corsair Harpoon RGB mouse for probably over a year now with their software and I have not had any problems.

I just use the Corsair K70 cherry blue, i don't need fancy colours, its just a gimmick to me, so i have no need for their iCue software.

I like a full sized keyboard, but i don't know why they're forcing all these RGB keyboards on us.

My pc shop shows only 3 keyboards with solid colours, the Corsair K63...K68 and the Razer k/board in white.

Best bet OP is check out reviews online from sites like TechPowerUp or Toms Hardware, or Overclockers.

You may have to future proof and buy 2 keyboards for when Arma 4 comes out.

you can use the icue software to reset to solid colors then uninstall it

I'm also taking into consideration the Corsair K70 MK.2 Brown switches. It seems to be the best of the bunch but it's a lot more expensive.

How is the blue switch? Apparently it's really nice to use but it's also very loud.

I actually have the K70 Lux, not the K70 Lux RGB so there is a difference in the keys, however i don't notice the key press sound, its something that i've never had an issue with, better to hear them than not though i reckon.

Just add my model doesn't seem to be available anymore, mine also has the volume scroll in the top right corner, seems you have to go to models $70 + now if you want this and it is handy to have, although it doesn't work in Skyrim, its works on my other games.

I was just saying that you don't need anything special because you have a laptop.
Prop the Laptop on a Laptop Cooler that elevates the Laptop for cooling and clearance reasons.
Plug in what's you want to use for USB Keyboard & Mouse (maybe even a DS4 or XBO controller if you feel the need for some games) and enjoy. Don't use USB hubs.
