Pixel 5 unlocked a good phone?

I'm looking for a new phone i know any newer phone will blow my s5 away. So is the pixel 5 anygood? Or is there a better option other then samsung.

higher res display, better camera, more ram, newer android version
else it will be similar

side note, 5g uses different frequency ranges depending on carrier and location
not all 5g phones will work at 5g in all areas
4g/3g/edge will still work

5g also uses more juice. Verizon did tweet? it a while ago but then removed it shortly afterwards.

I was looking at an unlocked version. It's $699.99 unlocked and not carrier bound. Samsungs new phones even their s10 are still kinda pricey. The specs look good even supports OTG only down side is i lose the sd card slot so it will make my 128gb micro sd card obsolete.

Maybe consider a used S9 or S10. Never purchased a new Smart phone myself. Always buy used and only if there is a need for something better. I only upgraded my old galaxy note 2 to a Galaxy note 4 because I wanted Android 6 so I could block apps want excessive permissions. Only upgraded my Note 4 when it started having issues.

Had this Note 8 for almost 3 years. Still mint condition and while it was out of the 2 year warranty from where I purchased it I have no need/want to upgrade it, yet.

Can use that site I provided to search for phones that meet what your looking for. If that means buying a used phone they aren't all bad. If you're going to put them in a case it won't even matter it the back/sides are scratched and that could save you money.

I'd look at Samsung Galaxy S20 FE instead

I went with the moto edge 256gb with 6gb of ram. After looking around a bit more this had some nice features for 449.99 unlocked.

If you decide to go Samsung route - make sure it's the US model. EU models have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Exynos CPUs opposed to US ones that use Snapdragon.

When i used my S10 i was using the S7 for Games/Separate accounts, now using the S10 for that and BOYYYY is it so much better than the S7 due to its age and battery.

Upgrading from an S5 you will definitely notice a difference compared to any up to date phone.
