Should i bother with a 144Hz monitor?

Im getting a
3060Ti
ryzen 5 3600
16GB RAM 3600Mhz
and was thinking of getting a 144Hz monitor but i've seen gameplay with these specs and doesn't look like the system can reach 120FPS in most games today which is what i wanted so should i just stick with a 60HZ monitor which is what it looks like this system would nail?

Those specs can run most games just fine at 144Hz. Maybe not at ultra settings but at least mostly high.

I suggest go for 144Hz, they're cheap these days. Make sure to buy the one with G-Sync.
Even if you don't get the full 120 or 144 fps but managed to get only 90 to 100 fps, It feels lot smoother than 60.

100fps is a huge step up over 60fps in how smooth everything is, beyond that, a 3060ti should handle 120fps+ at 1080p well in most games and I'd expect 100fps in many at 1440p at high to max settings (some adjustments and outliers not included).

You don't need to maintain frame rates at a minimums of, or even reach as a maximum, a given refresh rate to make it beneficial. You could get 70 FPS to 95 FPS and it'd still be beneficial. It also provides extra smoothness outside games.

The only time I wouldn't go for 120 Hz/144+ Hz over 60 Hz if it meant having to choose 1080p or having to choose TN. I'd (personally) trade refresh rate over those factors. But, if you can afford higher refresh rate on a panel that otherwise meets your criteria, yes it's worth it.

definitely go for 144fps,be warned you can never never go back to 60hz.
even 90fps is a huge improvement IMO.thats the mark i set for building a new
system dropping below 90fps with high settings in game @1440 res

i have a 2070 with a 32 in 144 hz and run most everything on high (no ray tracing) i rearely dip below 100 fps with 2560x1440

i found a 144HZ G-Sync monitor $30 more than the original 144Hz i was gonna get

Gsync monitors usually cost more due to a Gsync module used, so there's this nVidia price premium. I prefer Freesync monitors (my 34" Acer 21:9 is a first gen Freesync monitor with just 75Hz refresh, my main 32:9 monitor is a Freesync 2 model with 144Hz refresh rate and HDR rating), it's not that I'm a cheapskate, it's more to do with my GPU preference.

144hz desktop looks smooth even using intel hd or vega igpus
but games on those will look like crap vsync will stutter some, or non sync will have tearing

If you're playing at 1440p then it's not overkill to run 60Hz at ultra, but for 1080p it definitely is.

im getting this system to mainly run Halo Infinite on ultra and still get 60+ FPS not sure if it'll do that on a 2K monitor
