Chrome is probably the safest and most performance-driven browser. It's also the most data-hungry, always looking for new and "innovative" ways to harvest. FLOC is already yesterday. Ironically, the Chrome Web Store is often a repository for malicious apps--I just steer clear.
Up to you what to use--you can demo all of them and see. I use Edge and Firefox--better to have some variety.
Chrome is literal spyware, and people using it are so stupid that any antivirus would be pointless.
I do keep a close eye on tasks and network usage.
Yes, right now, I believe so, too. Certain content blockers like uBlock Origin function better in Firefox. It's also just a nice, all-around browser and very fast, but of course this is a personal opinion.
Good thing there are other decent fish in the sea, I wouldn't want Google Chrome any more of a monopoly than it is now.
