Plz validate my 5900x temps.
I finished my first Ryzen build and I am happy but I want to be sure that temps are ok.
My build:
5900x
GPU RTX 3080 Palit
MSI MAG x570 Tomahawk
Corsair vengence pro RAM 2 x 8 gb
Corsair RM750i
2 x m.2 samsung 1 tb drives, 1 3 tb HDD, 1 8TB HDD , 1 250GB SSD
Corsair 115i Platinum AIO running at balanced mode
2 x corsair QL140m front intake fans
1 x corsair QL140m exhaust fan
Case pantheks evolv x

Games tested
Valhalla - setting ultra @ 3440 x 1440p - ryzen temp 65 degrees
Kena setting ultra @ 3440 x 1440p , ryzen temp - 67 degrees
COD Cold War - ultra with ray tracing on , fps @ 3440 x 1440p - ryzen temp - 76 spikes to 77.8

Ray tracing off - 73.

Are these temps expected with my build? Should I reapply thermal paste. I did semi big blob just in the middle but the way blop was shapef suggest that some of the paste could not spread into the right lower corner, not sure maybe its paranoia.

Temp is fine, i'm also running at 75-80c range in more cpu intensive games like Cold War or Mafia 3. I thought that's too much, i reapplied paste Grizzly kryonaut and it was the same, these cpus just run hot and need the best cooler available.

Ryzen 5000 CPUs just run hot. My Ryzen 5 5600x in a Meshify C and Dark Rock 4 runs up to 73c while playing Cyberpunk 2077.

Temps are fine, and the best (lazy) way to apply paste on newer Ryzen CPUs is an X pattern because the die isn't in the center like it is with Intel CPUs, it's actually spread out, with one side having the I/O die and the other side having the chiplets containing the CPU cores. An X will generally get better coverage than a dot unless you really overdo it, in which case, excess will just be squeeze out off the edges of the IHS.

a side note - some silicons can withstand very high temps ! My old laptop has GT 520MX video and i played games at 85C ! Never had issues at that temp for 9 year s.

Laptop hardware is made that way because it's going to run hotter; 100 C is usually the temperature limit for the CPU and GPU.

And it's not that it can withstand heat better, it's that it doesn't draw as much power so there's less damage on the electrical side of things; less electromigration, for instance, which can destroy lifespan.

Or manual spread method for both, since you manually spread a thin layer of paste across the IHS.

Anything under 80c is safe for CPU and GPU. After 80c they starts to throttle more or less, and boost clock comes down.

Pretty much all modern CPUs and GPUs, Desktop or Laptop are fine under 90*C

Ryzen 5900x with Scythe Fuma 2, PBO enabled.
It barely reaches 80c in Cinebench R21, ingame usually it doesn't go over 70c (except for cpu intensive games as Far Cry 5, which I saw my cpu goes around 75/76c).
