Does smart steam emulator work with garrys mod

I have a windows xp laptop called the beast, no other laptop is worthy of that title, any way I have been using a older version of steam thats been modified so it doesint update, witch works fine except I cant use the latest version of garrys mod and most of the addons I like dont work on my version, is there a way to get garrys mod to work on smart steam emulator or some other program?
