Question about Ryzen 5 5600G custom build
Hi everyone,

I've been looking at Ryzen 5 and have some question for the following build:

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600G

Motherboard: MSI Mag B550M Mortar Wifi

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000 Mhz DDR4 2 x 8GB

SSD: Samsung 970 EVO plus 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD

PSU: Corsair 850W RM 850X gold power supply

CPU Cooler: Corsair iCue H150i RGB Pro

Casing: Invasion ZM-S with 4 RGB fan or full ATX casing with 3 RGB fan

GPU: put this on hold, and probably get either RTX 2000 or 3000 in the future. For now, just use integrated graphic card from Ryzen 5. I only play old games anyway (Xcom 2, resident evil 7, path of exile). Currently I'm using 650 Ti Boost.

Question:
- I pick 850W PSU because of the possibility of buying a dedicated graphic card. Or maybe just get 500W instead? When I look at prebuilt shops for Ryzen 5, they are only using 500-550W without a dedicated graphic card.

- With the casing, I just pick the brand from a random prebuild online store and it is the same with the CPU cooler, I just chose the cooler from a youtube video demonstrating Ryzen 5 performance. Both of them are not using a dedicated graphic card. Not sure if those brands are adequate if I plan to buy a dedicated GPU in the future.

Thank you!

If you plan on getting a graphic card then get 5600x. 5600g is good but it's only good if you plan on using the chips integrated graphics. The 5600g only supports pci express 3.0, so the tech is actually older. 5600x supports pci exprees 4.0 and is newer tech. Both of these chips come with coolers, so purchasing one is a waste of money. I would get a good 650 watt psu, unless you plan on getting a gigantic gpu.

500/550w psu may be too small depending what gpu you choose. I would agree with above comment and get the 650w. (do not use prebuilts to guide you, often cheaper parts and lower quality than we would like).

The coolers supplied with ryzen are good, if your not planning to overclock then save your cash on that.

As for the case, make sure it has the space you need. (motherboards come in different sizes and some gpu's are pretty big). Also it should have good airflow.

Get 5600X CPU + RMX850 watts
Forget that ridiculous CPU cooler, something like a BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 will be superior and cheaper. Use the GTX 650 for the time being until you can afford modern day GPU model of choice. Buy more then one drive, such as a 2TB SSD to act as secondary drive.
