DDR4 RAM temps
Is there importance to keep an eye on RAM temps nowadays? Ive never heard of RAM overheating or anything, but in the past few years there seems to be a greater emphasis on heatsinks, and even some kits have liquid cooling. But, outside of the most extreme overclocking, is there any real risk of RAM overheating? And if so, what kinds of temps are bad? How hot is too hot?

Cant tell you any temps but it depends only how much v you use. Normal ram runs with 1.35v and doesnt get hot. If you touch it, it feels like ~40°C. I have ram which runs with 1.5v and gets a little "hot" and feels 60-70°C if i touch it. Since i used a waterblock on it feels like 1.35v.

I think its impossible 1.35v can overheat even with very bad airflow if this is your question.

Unless you have atrocious airflow or you are running memory intensive tasks you don't need to worry about temps.. heatsinks on ram are mostly for show unless you are overclocking the snot out of your modules

I dont think it can overheat, but some modules like samsung b-die are more temp sensitive, meaning ram tests might be stable but when you actually game and a hot card is blowing hot air on the ram or you have terrible airflow in general, it might get less stable after a while as the heat increases and throw some errors or possibly crash the game/system. Ram temp should be kept in the 30-40s c. This shouldn't be an issue for most people tho, but good to keep in mind when doing heavy overclocking at 1.5+v.

^ Exactly, Who even cares enough to monitor ram temp.

as long as you are not running the ram at a higher voltage or higher speed than its rated it will be fine

only a few ddr3 and no ddr4 kits like to be overclocked (higher than they are rated)
*ram oc is not overclocking ram, its overclocking the memory controller on the cpu, since buying a kit thats rated at a higher speed than the cpu officially supports

If it was that important, OEMs probably would all use RAM with Heat-Spreader on them instead of the cheaper RAM which has none.
