crucial ssd

Is any good this ssd?
And the cooling things is a must?
I saw also the evo 980 for 160€ but it's a bit too expansive for my taste.

Bought it, with a basic amazon choice fin cooler for it ,for 5 euro :D

that's fine, man!
You don't need a cooler for ssd that's totally a gimmick. Ssd runs better hot anyways so putting a cooler on it makes no sense.

Either you can use that fin cooler or you can use an already existing heat shield on your motherboard if there is one. Mine had small strips of adhesive beneath them that would stick with the surface of the NVMe SSD. Runs just fine at 35-40°C; same size, but not the same model.

Well I don't remember/know if my b450 tomahawk max had one of those so i just bought a cheap one without fancy names or colours and stuff just to try it out because i read on the reviews that this crucial p5 on heavy load can bring 100° or something.

You DO want an M2 Heatsink when using a Gen3/Gen4 NVME SSD.
As some models can run way too hot during period of heavy sustained writes.
Yes they run well when warm, but they should not be going above 70*C
They will start running sluggish or just start failing altogether if they hit around 75*C+
They can thermal throttle but its hard for that feature to be effective without any heatsink at all.

I would not suggest Crucial SSDs though.
I'd strongly suggest Sabrent Rocket series.

AFAIK, Crucial doesn't yet have an offering that rivals some of the fastest (Samsung Evo, newer Western Digital Black, Sabrent Rocket, and a few others), but the P5 is its best offering IIRC, being added after the P1 and P2 options (which is generally Crucial performance offerings). For a Gen 3 drive it's pretty speedy.

Crucial SSDs are absolutely fine and are some of the soonest I'd recommend. They've been one of the more solid options since SSDs became a thing. Whether they have the fastest offering or whether it's the best for the price is another matter and depends, as I mentioned above, but as a brand alone they are absolutely one of the more solid ones.

Well, for that price it is the best option i found and have aswell 1 Tb of space, about speed..eh 3400Mb are still high for what i have right now,10 times more fast,so can't complain and i will use it only for games and mooving games stuff so "no " heavy works,it will suit my needs i think and i will be ready for direct storage when microsoft releases it and i suppose it will be out with windows 11 because...it make sense.

If you're going NVME, then I really would only suggest Sabrent or Samsung.
Overall, for an OS or Games drive, you don't need to spend that extra money on super fast NVME drives. It does absolutely nothing to speed up anything with an OS or Games. They are made for heavy work and content creators.
That sort of contradicts itself, no? Samsung (and Sabrent) have some of the fastest SSDs, but they are also unnecessarily expensive for most uses. I imagine most of the people buying them aren't even getting the full extent of what they offer. If you just want a snappy OS and games drive, even a SATA SSD, where costs are cheaper at around ~$100 for 1 TB, is a far more sensible option.

If you are going all out, sure those options are fine, but then so are other brands. There's is nothing about Crucial that makes it worse as a brand (I'd argue the opposite but purely based on my own opinion; that it's been one of the more solid RAM and SSD brands over the years/decades) and there's nothing about Samsung that makes it worlds better either.

A lot of advice on this forum, and this also applies largely to PSUs I've noticed, focuses FAR too much on brand and less on individuals options/models at a certain price point and scenario.

I don't agree. There's some decent midrange NVMe that's pretty close to SATA SSD prices but can be 2-3 times faster. They're not in the same league as the highend Sabrent or Samsung SSD's, but you're not going to be worse off.

Sure you can argue the diminishing returns but I don't think all other things being equal that disqualifies midrange NVMe.

Not to mention NVMe doesn't require cables or cable management which can be a nice bonus.

I will agree most people will be fine with a SATA or NVMe, it's very hard to feel a difference in general purpose use between the two.

Sequential reads up to 3400 mb/s, writes up to 3000 mb/s for PCI-e v. 3.0 in the product description. I think you did fine. It's a decent brand and very budget-friendly. I think you have a 30 day return policy on the Amazon site if you're not pleased with the Crucial nvme. :steamhappy:

For sure. Those "slower ones" also use less power so they're better for laptops

i have a WD black edition that has 3400mb read and write and that thing loads games almost instantly. i think you will be happy with your purchase.
