is this pc good? https://www.digitalstorm.com/bolt-x.asp

The default configuration? No.

GPU is a 1650. That is far weaker than a 3060 ti.
CPU is a 10400. Not as good as a 10700.
Power supply is 400 watts.

You can customize it, but those 3 upgrades will bring the price to $2623.

You should also note that the PC will not look like it does in the pictures. All that tubing and liquid cooled gpu? Those are all upgrades that will add a lot more to the price.

Everyone here isn't thinking outside the box lol.

1. Buy your desired computer parts amazon, newegg, etc.
2. Go to a TRUSTED computer shop and ask them to build it for you and install Windows 10
3. Done you get the best computer and save $100 as prebuilts charge a $200 build fee.

If you live in a city with atleast 750,000 people, there is atleast one good computer shop that will build your PC. Computer technicians exist for a reason.

Total waste of time and $100, why would anyone do this?

Those that are lazy with extra money or those that are not confident to do it themselves.

I understand the lack of confidence but in today's world it does not get easier. There's a wealth of information and advice out there, shaped connectors, colour coding, tool free designs, etc. It really just requires a little common sense.

Yeah most is plug A to B and C to D and A will only connect to B and so on.. You can't plug Ram into a PCIe slot or CPU socket and you can't plug the PCIe power leads into Motherboard power plugs.

Only thing I have concerns about installing is the CPU. Much more risky if you screw it up nowadays with so many fine pins on the board. That's mainly a 'me' issue though as nerve damage means my hands don't always do what I want. Affects my gaming when hand occasional slides of keyboard too. Have even unbind various keys so I'm not pressing them when fingers have moved by themselves.

Before the nerve damage became apparent I installed a new CPU and it slipped, dropping onto the socket bending 1/4 or so of the pins. Was my worse hand and before I new about the health condition affecting my nerves. Even now though it still has me fearful when using my better hand to install them. Installed half a dozen myself without issues but it still scares me. :steamsad:

Normally I would suggest building a PC as it really is quite simple, I learned from a youtube tutorial myself, and it was a piece of cake.

HOWEVER, there's kind of a major semiconductor shortage going on, and graphics cards are either nowhere in stock unless you follow specific Discord Stock Servers or have insane luck, OR insanely expensive to buy from second hand sites like Ebay. Seriously, even a 1050Ti now goes for 300 USD, when it's MSRP on release was around 150 USD, decent graphics cards are much worse in pricing now. If you go DiY, it's best to wait until this is all over unless get lucky from a stock drop.

As for prebuilts, you could use a System Integrator to custom build a PC for you, popular ones include

- iBuyPower (larger selection of parts, heard both good and bad stories from them)
- CyberPowerPC
- NZXT BLD (Only NZXT Cases and CPU Coolers)
- OriginPC (Owned by Corsair, mostly uses Corsair parts)
- MainGear (Decent Selection of Parts, Custom Liquid Cooling, Great Customer Support)
- Digital Storm

Certain PC Parts Companies also have their own prebuilts as well, like

- MSI's Trident Mini-ITX PC

- Corsair's Vengeance Prebuilts (These are pretty good looking at specs)

- Zotac's Magnus One (They have bigger ones too but all are out of stock as of posting this)

- ASUS's ROG Desktops (All Out-Of-Stock now)

Lastly, there's the big PC companies, mainly

Dell's G5 Desktops and the Alienware Aurora lineup. The Alienware Desktops have decent CPUs and Dell's OEM NVIDIA RTX 30-Series GPUs and AMD 6000 Series GPUs, so you can get a new GPU from them no problem, for now.

They also allow customization of parts (well, CPU, GPU, RAM, Storage, Windows 10 Version) on their website, so you can kinda sorta customize it a little.

Their PCs use a good bit of OEM parts, so upgrading things like the motherboard is difficult.

The Alienware Aurora in particular, depending on the internal parts you choose, may likely run hot and loud as far as the CPU and GPU are concerned. It only has 1 intake fan, 1 exhaust fan if you use the air-cooler version (don't use that version, case has no airflow) and the Liquid Cooler Radiator if you go for the Liquid Cooler instead of the Air Cooler.

HP Has their HP Omen Desktops, but I haven't seen them in stock for quite some time.

Lenovo has their Legion Desktops, haven't seen them in stock for a while either.

Honestly if you want a really good PC on a 1500 USD to 1700 USD Budget I'd just suggest waiting a year for this shortage to subside and for prices to return to normal. If GPUs ever come back to normal pricing and become easier to buy (they run out of stock now instantly) or you can try to snag a card near MSRP by trying your luck at the Newegg Shuffle, Best Buy, or AMD's Direct-Buy store (they sell at MSRP pretty well, but you loose out on DLSS and RTX)
