Old games vs newwe computers. Will they still work?
I have 3 boxes of games. Unreal Tournament, Battlefield VietNam, The orginal COD series, etc. I want to buy an old PC to install them again. Can I use an i3-5-7 machine or do I need to go back to Pentiumm PC's?

securom was a drm only used on cd/dvd games
if they were patched for win vista or later they have the securom drm removed
You still aren't giving an example. The "censored" version of GTA San Andreas says on its packaging Windows 2000/XP/Vista and it has SecuROM, in fact the same version as the first run of the game. Here's it working on Windows 10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0N_syUAwk4

For the most part, yes. Let's hope it stays that way because new games just ain't cuttin' it for me.

the patch removed securom, its not longer needed, thats why it works on win10

if you do not install the patch after installing the game it will not work on vista or later

I didn't install any patches, and if you watch closely you can see the CD-ROM cursor. It doesn't animate during validation because that version of Windows 10 had a bug with animated cursors.
that just means you put the disc in the drive
the drm alt is checking for the disk or it may not even be needed to run the game

Retail
Disc check (requires the CD/DVD in the drive to play)
SecuROM 7 DRM disc check.
Polish copies use StarForce 5 DRM.
...
and
...
Steam
DRM-free after installation through Steam client (notes may include more details)
DRM-free as the November 7, 2014 patch, despite the system requirements stating the game uses SecuROM DRM.[4][5][6]

This was a USA disc copy with SecuROM 7.

That said, it doesn't always validate; I suspect it could be timing changes since Windows 8 as SecuROM 7 disc checks work by reading specific locations of the disc and measuring the access times; the tracks are pressed in an uneven pattern, the timing of which encodes the game's key. It rejects burned copies since they are written at a pretty much constant speed.
