Taskbar not showing up when Steam is maximized Win10
Already searched google to no avail, tried *many* "fixes" that didn't do anything (small mode to normal mode, restore and maximize, clicking the taskbar using WINkey and clicking back to steam to name a few...), also tried to search this clusterf... of a forum that has almost no filter options...….

And before you lash on me with "ugh, just use the WINkey" or "don't use steam maximized if that's bothering you"... IT IS ANNOYING and Steam is the only thing that does this. And since Win10 removed "Desktop" from the alt+tab list, there are situations where even that isn't an option.

Also, no, I'm not talking about BPM - Big Picture Mode...

So if anyone has an idea how to fix this issue (preferably permanently), let me know.. even if its the year 2045 and you stumbled on this thread because you have similar issue on your Win50 since Valve is ignoring this issue for at least 6 years now (it's the infamous year of 2021 FYI)

Many thanks.

check taskbar properties
make sure its not set to autohide or is not always on top

sometime killing explorer.exe and running it again fixes

It is set to autohide because i like it that way... and I WANT it "always on top"... also, no, killing explorer.exe didn't help

Wut? Always on top and autohide are contradictory. Does it come back when you move the mouse all the way to the bottom the screen? It should with autohide on.

That's exactly the problem ... task-bar should be "always on top" unless a full-screen app is in focus. Steam shouldn't be on top of said task-bar when it is maximized.
Yes, I know how the auto-hide feature works, but when steam is in focus, it doesn't allow me to get the task-bar to show up unless i press the WIN key...

But when you run steam in full screen it IS the app in focus, you need to use the winkey to give focus to the desktop, and click steam window to return focus to steam. Thats how windows works is it not?

Correct. If you move the mouse all the way to the very bottom, the taskbar will pop up. Or use the Win key.

Was I not clear enough?

!!! I DONT RUN STEAM FULLSCREEN BUT MAXIMIZED !!!

Maximized and fullscreen are two completely different things. also, steam's "fullscreen" mode is named BIG PICTURE ... as I stated above, thats not what i'm talking about.

if the taskbar is set to autohide, then it will be fullscreen til you move the mouse to the bottom to bring up the taskbar

My comment IS about Steam in its maximized window. Does the taskbar (re-)appear when you move the mouse all the way to the bottom? Or when you press the Win key? Then your Windows is working correctly.

are you maximizing by double clicking or clicking the box button?
or using bpm?
bpm is full screen, not maximized

On which side of the screen is the taskbar? Do you have any additional monitors? Are you using Steam beta by any chance?
